Automatic email gets rejected
Hi!
I didn't know where I should post this, as it isn't a specific Calibre nor Kindle problem. I use the automatic News-Download for Süddeutsche, xkcd, Dilbert and Heise. All of them work fine with the automatic email to my Kindle 3, except Süddeutsche. This doesn't get delivered, although it looks like it gets converted without a problem ![]() Quote:
Thanks, Genmutant |

From what it sounds like, that recipe has created a format that Amazon doesn't support. Did you have a look which format got created? What's your preferred ebook format set to in preferences?

Yes, I thought so too, but it's a MOBI, which is also my preferred format.

Is there a way you can get to the email Calibre sent (e.g. if you're using Google Mail, it should be in sent mails)? If so, get the mobi file and check whether it's broken.
Also, I just noticed that the Süddeutsche recipe is the only recipe that uses Umlaute (what the hell are those things called in english?), which you'd see again in the filename, I think. Maybe Amazon doesn't support those? |

I never thought off looking in the Sent Mails! Thanks, there seems to be the problem:
The file doesn't get a name... It's named "noname". If I rename it to smth.mobi, I can open it in Calibre. So it seems that Calibre can't handle sending umlauts? EDIT: I changed the title of the recipe to Sueddeutsche, and this time it worked! Thank you! Last edited by Genmutant; 10-24-2010 at 07:00 AM. |

I don't know. Try testing it by creating a new book with an Umlaut in the title, then sending it via email. What I can say is that it looks like Amazon does its filetype detection solely based on file extensions, since, although it's a working mobi file, they weren't able to detect it as such.

umlaut is called umlaut
As far as I know umlaut in German is umlaut in English. There may be specialists in phonemes or something that might call them something else I have never heard of.
