Calibre Fetch News over 3g for Kindle?

I read that Calibre can fetch your news for the Kindle. I can't seem to find anywhere if you can fetch your news/blogs over the 3g network? I cannot seem to understand exactly how it works. I will be getting a Kindle soon and am debating whether to get the wifi or 3g version.

If Calibre can fetch news through 3g, it would be worth it for me to pay the extra $50 for the service. However, I just need to figure out if it will work first. Any help guys?

Calibre runs on your computer and not on your kindle. Calibre gets the news for you (if you leave calibre running and your computer on) and sends them to your kindle when you connect it to the computer

so in order to get any sort of news you need to connect your kindle? it won't work over wifi or the 3g network?

This is correct.. The wifi or 3g has nothing to do with Calibre.

It doesn't use the wifi to get the news but many folks here use calibre to package the news into a mobi file then email it to their Kindle and grab the email via wifi.
