How to make the world a better place.
WARNING: I AM BEING TOTALY FACTIOUS!
Those that want to be serious can start their own thread. ================================================== ================= The population of the world is kinda big. We all know that, right? I recall reading something written in the 70s about how the world would be better if we stopped breeding tall people. He figured that people should only be allowed to grow to somewhere around 3 feet. The argument went something like this - 1) A new floor could be built in all apartments. Housing problem solved, and heating costs reduced. The same thing with office space. 2) Smaller people would naturally eat less and require less clothing. 3) The amount of land used in cemeteries would be reduced. There was more, but I don't remember any more of it. A full load of Karma for anyone who can find his name. So I'm looking for recommendations that may work, but that aren’t going to happen. Examples Provide free drugs (the kind that don't make you lazy, not violent) to everyone that wants them. The benefits, off the top of my head, are - A)If they're too stoned to get up they can't cause problems and B) There'll be a decrease in population. All men (between the age of whatever and 45) should be given a drug that makes them unable to fire live rounds, if you get my meaning. That'll give women a break too. So come everybody, I know we can do it if we try. Give a hoot! PS - No meanness. This is just for fun. Last edited by SameOldStory; 10-15-2010 at 01:17 AM. |

This is not from the 70s but ....
Profs: Human race must become Hobbits to save planet British men 3'3" tall would meet UK carbon pledges Public-health researchers in London have come up with a new plan to save the planet: wealthy westerners should all reduce by several inches in height by starving their children. This would not only save food, but make people much lighter, meaning that cars and buses would use less fuel. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/04...e_bmi_foolery/ |

Quote: "Another idea is to pay women not to have children. The plan would only have to target women from 14 to 20 when fecundity is highest. For each year the woman does not have a child she would receive a reward. The arguments against this plan do not really center on human rights but cost. Certainly this program would cost a pretty penny. If, though, the cost of raising the children that would otherwise be produced is considered, the cost of the rewards pales by comparison. It is shown that a middle class family will spend $100,000 to raise a child in the United States. That is not including college (Hardin 272). Surely a young woman could be persuaded to postpone having children for much less than half that sum." What girl/woman wouldn't give up having children so she can buy as many shoes as she wants? |

Let practicality be the least concern.
Pookeysgirl's solution also has the added benefit of spurring the shoe and clothing side of the economy. Sparrows suggestion would also spur the economy AND cut (pun intended) the population. Think of all the lawyers raking in the money from malpractice lawsuits. |

Some conversion may be needed. Or if you prefer on SmashWords in multiple formats. Oh how I wish I had a child or two in the fridge. SIDE NOTE: I have given up trying to catch Poohbear. He's just too smart for me. That and a few nail still in my head have slowed me down some. |

I can feel the world sliding into ruin.
Try harder everyone. It doesn't have to be just food from, and for, little people! We can outlaw shoes. Well, these are OK. They're cool! ![]() Nike can sell expensive glue-on logos. ![]() DON'T LET YOUR WORLD DOWN! |
