Possible bug or misfeature when a thread is closed
If you write a reply and spend a some time writing it and the thread is closed during this time. Then when you submit the reply the text will be lost. This is annoying. If there is not technical way to avoid loosing the text then I thing there should be a warning 10 minutes before a thread is closed or so.

Arghhh, "when a thread is closed" was the intention in the subject.

Well, we could perhaps write some Javascript/Ajax code to continuously check if a thread has been closed and if yes, spill out a warning, in which case you don't have to bother finish writing the test. But this would require some extra coding not exactly trivial, and I am not sure if it's really that often the case considering that we prefer not closing threads unless a situation becomes out of control or a thread is totally off-topic/spammy.

Probably not worth the trouble.
An advance warning might be good and work and would have the advantage that people can comment on things that are non-controversial. The disadvantage might be that it will give more time to make the situation worse. |

Hmm... I guess when such a case happens you get some kind of error message? If that's the case, maybe something could be done so that instead of "The message could not be posted", you get "The following message could not be posted" and then the text of the attempted post, that would let you copy the text, in case you want to post it in another thread or whatever. The same would apply for other possible errors.

you can also (usually) hit your back button and go back to your text

It works with Firefox - I used to get "timed out" and logged off while writing episodes of High Noon - and getting interrupted - but I could always go back and recover the text and re-post it. Thanks KK - I had forgotten that.
