new 350
First off good day everyone. I have been do a lot of research on the forum and decided now to become a member. I picked up my first reader yesterday at best buy. Wish they would have had the 650 but they did not. The funny thing is I got the wife her reader a prs 900 last month as an early birthday gift. I asked her if she wanted to wait until the new models came out, but she did not and now she is like dang it I should have waited for she likes the screen quality better on the newer versions.
Okay, here is my question. I like to read the star wars series. can someone point me to a good free site that has those books. Notice the word Free (I am cheap). Okay that is all for now so batten down the hatches and full steam ahead. |

They start at $2.79 at borders.com.
http://www.borders.com/online/store/...sku=0345462319 If you want to steal books, I'd suggest going into a bookstore with a large coat with lots of pockets. |

Okay ShellShock I understand about the piracy issue. I guess i should have made myself more clear. On this forum under the wiki section there is a link that says free ebooks and it gives it a listing of different websites to be able to download free ebooks. do you or any one know of a specific site on that list for me to go. I agree that piracy is bad and that I do not do it and never have, and was just wandering where it is legal, and if it is not then why does the forum have the wiki site that says free ebooks

Oh. Well, legally distributed ebooks are generally free for one of the following reasons:
1) texts out of copyright, such as Austen, Bronte, Shakespeare, etc. 2) promotional freebies. B&N, Amazon, Kobo, etc., all are bookstores which also release freebies from time to time. 3) books released free specifically under other conditions (including creative commons). Some of the sites linked to, such as Gutenberg and Mobileread, stock mainly ebooks out of copyright. Also, you have a Sony, so you can always borrow books from the library if they have a collection. If you're interested in the Star Wars books -- BTW, Karen Traviss has written some good Star Wars books, worth paying the $3-ish IMHO -- maybe you like sci-fi? Baen is a publisher that offers some good sci-fi ebooks for free. Good way to find new reads. |

I beleive all ebooks at Feedbooks are free.
Also, you can find some free and very cheap ebooks at Smashwords. Lastly, if you go to Inkmesh there is a link for Free Sony ebooks that will redirect you to the Sony ebook store. Most of these are limited time offers so check back often. |

It looks like quite a few libraries have some of the Star Wars books available in ePub format for download. Of course they'll expire in 14 to 21 days, but if you have a library you have access to has them available for download, you can check them out there.
To see which libraries in your area might have them available, just go to: http://search.overdrive.com/classic Type Star Wars into the title and choose ePub as the media type. Looks like a few of the libraries do have some available as PDFs--while these won't format on your reader as nicely as the ePubs, they are available and free to read. dordale ![]() |

dordale beat me to it. I think the library is your best bet to find these books for free, though of course they will expire.
If you love the books, why not buy them? |

thanks all for your help. it is much appreciated. another question when i go to google books i get a google book error when i click on a book. has this happen to other people. I saw the the time machine and it i just keep getting the error. found some other classics that i would like to read and get the same problem on a few of them. oh and the wife is still jealous about the screen quality between the 350 and 900.

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but there's a large collection of lovingly formatted files in the ebooks uploads section. If you want HG Wells' "The Time Machine" you can try the copy here on mobileread!
All the books in the ebooks uploads section are public domain or author submitted and since the formatting is done by volunteers, the work is better than most publishers. While it doesn't answer your question about Google Books (Never used it myself), its a fantastic source of PD books. -- Crafty Dan <>< |
