Hi
I have just bought an ECO reader after much going backwards and forwards. I am a librarian so have been a little bit resistant to the idea of e-books. The idea that I could take more than two books on holiday with me is what finally convinced me it was worth investing in one.

Welcome fellow Aussie.

Congratulations on the purchase. There is certainly a strong swing now towards eBooks given the relative maturity in the technology that lets us read them.

I think that printed books will still always be with us but as you say, the advantage of the eBook and carrying so many on your travels is hard to beat.

We just recently donated a few printed copies of our book to the local library, schools etc, it seems a bit more tangible than simply handing them an eBook file.

G'Day vicsca and welcome to MobileRead. eBook readers on travel, especially on vacation is a great plus. And last year, when my wife and I were on vacation in Brazil, I was able to borrow an eBook from the Fairfax, Virginia library. And, twenty minutes later, the blue Atlantic surf was creaming around skinny white cassidym ankles.

I"m finding your view on ebooks rather prevalent .

I don't quite understand the viewpoint, except that many don't feel these are 'real' books.

I"m betting you change your mind once you start using your device and realize the enormous advantages!!

Just came back from a driving/camping trip up to Cairns... Amazing to have a whole library in the tent!!!... LOL... It was surreal to wake up in the tent in the middle of the bush and be able to pick up one of many books.
