Brick & Mortar Stores
I've searched all over the Internet, but I can't find the answer to this question. I figured someone might know the answer here.
I'm interested in getting a PRS-600, but want to get a "hands-on" impression before I buy. Are there any "Brick & Mortar" stores, aside from the Sony Store, which is at an inconvenient distance from me, which are currently carrying the 600? If it helps, I'm located in Northern Indiana. Thanks! |

I don't know if Borders has theirs in stores yet. It was supposed to be sometime in September for them to hit the B&M locations, if there's one near you maybe give a call. Haven't heard yet if Target or Best Buy are going to carry them.

http://www.abt.com/custserv/abtHours.php3 It will be very tempting to buy it in the store. However, if you can hold back, get back home, order it online and ship it to your Indiana address to lower your sales tax. You can probably take advantage of the 5% discount for new customers. YMMV. |

The Borders web site says they are to arrive Sept. 18. I have been patiently waiting, and waiting, and...

Ya know...I had bought a 505 at BJ's last spring, decided I wanted the 700, and was able to return it within 30 days, no problem, no restocking, no question.
Went to Borders only to be told no returns on readers. (I was, at this point, wanting to be able to try out the 700...they had one attached at the BOTTOM to a security device that prevented you from turning on the light. So you couldn't see that feature....idiots..who thought up THAT?) Then I went to the Sony store, where I could compare the 2 ...but they charged a serious restocking fee if I were to change my mind about my purchase. My point here? Well...I wanted to make darn sure of which reader I was going to buy, and I didn't want to pay a ridiculous 'restocking fee' if I decided for whatever reason I didn't want the model.... I'd check the return policy with whomever you buy from, so you're aware ....just in case! |

I don't know about Target but they have the PRS-505 at my local stores so I would be surprised if they don't update that in the next few weeks. Wal-mart has a PRS-505 display too (actually, a general Sony display with headphones and such too) and are selling it for $229 near me. It's been tempting But I suspect that after they clear some stock they'll put the PRS-300 there, given their generally sub-poverty target audience. |

On another thread, someone saw them in a Wal-Mart. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56030
They aren't at my local Wal-Mart though. I was at Borders this weekend and they still had the 505 and 700 on display. I am also very anxious to see the actual 600, but don't get into town (one big enough to have anything more than Wal-Mart) that often. |

Best Buy has the 300 in some stores, although their staff was rather clueless ands it took 3 trips before I finally convinced a manager to go into the storage place and search for them. I didn't check on the 600 as I already had one I got from Sony.
