I can't even see their point. It's incredibly stupid.

I can remember looking up all the "bad" words in Merriam-Webster, as an adolescent in jr. high! If it's good enough for a high school library it should be good enough for Apple!

Okay, I don't see their point. Maybe I'm missing something. It's a dictionary, something designed to help someone discover the meaning or words and their usages. If you remove all the words someone might find objectionable you're going to end up with something rather limited in scope for its intended purpose.

Yeah, I agree. This may actually be the stupidest thing I've ever heard!
It's up there with Apple deleting an ebook app because you could download the Kamasutra with it. So Apple's in a head-to-head competition with *itself* for stupidity. So much for "Think Different(ly)" |

I suppose if I can't look up the words in a dictionary, I could go and ask the nearest 10-year old what they mean - most kids of my acquaintance know vastly more than their parents care to believe. More to point, what constitutes "objectionable"? Crude slang, colloquial, polite/medical?

I wonder why Apple thinks it needs to be America's Nanny?
