Kindle 2 und das Whispernet u.a.
Seit Monaten beschäftige ich mich mit dem Thema Ebook-Reader und kann mich einfach nicht entscheiden. Der heißeste Kanditat PB 302 kommt wegen seiner starken Spiegelungen nun doch nicht in Frage und ich liebäugele immer mehr zum Kindle 2, der vom Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, von der Optik, von der Lesbarkeit usw. doch immer mehr nachvorne rückt.
Ein paar Fragen hätte ich aber noch, die ich bisher beim Stöbern in den Foren noch nicht beantwortet bekommen habe: 1. Die ja offensichtliche kostenlose Anbindung übers Whispernet an Wikepedia: Kommt man da auch an das deutschsprächige Wikepedia ran oder ist das nur auf Englisch. 2. Wie ist die Lesbarkeit, verschiedene Schriftarten, Schriftvergrößerung/verkleinerung von mit dem MobipocketReader in Mobifiles umgewandelte PDFs oder EPubs(in erster Linie Romane). PDF deswegen umwandeln, weil die Lesbarkeit offensichtlich doch recht beschränkt ist. 3. Was ist im Garantiefall, muss ich das Ding dann in die USA schicken, wer trägt die Kosten, weiß jemand wie hoch die im Fall des Falles wären? Danke schon mal für die Antworten. Mike |

Danke für die Antwort - ich hab ihn gestern bestellt!!!! Bin schon ganz gespannt Gibt es den ein Deutsch-Englisches Wörterbuch, bzw. welches ist empfehlenswert. Wo krieg ich das her.

Ich verwende das "PONS E/D bzw. D/E" Wörterbuch. Kann man kaufen und für den Gebrauch im Kindle "herrichten". Ist sehr ausführlich und im Kindle 2 ausreichend schnell.

Ich hab bei amazon.com direkt ein Oxford German dictionary für den Kindle gekauft, hat glaube ich nicht mal 10$ gekostet und funktioniert bisher ganz gut.

Also das Oxford von Amazon direkt kann ich nicht empfehlen. Das Pons ist (vor allem in der "großen" Version) ziemlich gut. Allerdings nur durch "herrichten" brauchbar zu machen auf dem Kindle.
Je nach Land ist das rechtliche Grauzone. Und immer dran denken wenn man so ein 25 MB großes Mobi Buch "herrichtet" dauert das selbst auf nen dicken Quad-Kern PC schonmal 50 Minuten. Geduld muss man haben sonst meint man des "herrichten" sei abgestürzt ... |

das muss amazon dann geändert haben, hab das im Januar ganz normal über einen deutschen acc gekauft. Andere Wörterbücher habe ich nicht getestet

Jetzt ist er da und ich bin in allen Punkten zufrieden, bin absolut happy, erfüllt meine Erwartungen voll. Die fehlende Ordnerstruktur - kein Problem, mit notes ein Stichwort vergeben, z.B. Krimi" und alles ist wunderbar sortierbar.
Trotzdem noch ein paar Fragen: - hab eine Ausgabe der FAZ im kindlestore gekauft und per wireless auf meinen Kindle geladen. Im Store waren 0,79 Dollarcent includet VAT and wirelessdelievery angezeigt, abgebucht haben sie aber 2,25 Dollar. Weiss jemand wo die anderen Kosten angefallen sind und würde sowas auch beim Kauf von Büchern passieren? - kann ich ihn - auch wenn ich mehrere Stunden oder Tage nicht lese im Schlafmodus lassen oder schaltet man ihn besser ganz ab. - gibt es außer kindlestore und wikepedia noch andere Seiten die sich mit dem kindle bei uns aufrufen lassen Mike |

Zum Thema ausschalten: Du solltest nur darüber nachdenken vielleicht das Mobilfunkmodul manuell abzuschalten. Damit hält der Kindle dann wirklich richtig lange durch auch wenn er "nur" im Standby hängt.
Solltest Du übrigens ein Zeitungsabbo einrichten würde ich aufpassen das Du auch wirklich Europe als Country eingetragen hast und nicht USA, denn ansonsten rechnet Amazon eine Roaming pauschale ab. In der Regel steht der Account aber eh standardmässig auf Deine Rechnungsadresse abgestimmt. Also vereinfachte Regel mit US Account = niedriger Preis von Büchern, Zeitungen, Magazinen aber Whispernet Pauschale obendrauf bei der Nutzung ausserhalb der USA. Also immer mit USB Kabel übertragen für die Sparfüchse (Unpraktisch bei einem Abbo). Europe Account = höherer Preis da wireless included. Dafür kostet Whispernet dann nichts extra egal wie oft Du die Bücher/Zeitungen runterlädst. Wer das mal zu Ende denkt kommt auf eine interessante "Lücke" von der ich nicht weiss wie Amazon damit wohl umgeht. |
