It is there in Windows 11. I just had a look. I have no idea how it got turned on. I don't know if it calibre or the last Windows Update enabled it. I know I didn't as I didn't know it existed until now.

Kovid changed something about the notifications (post 157). Go to Preferences > Look & Feel > Main interface > Turn on 'Disable notifications on job completion' to get rid of them.

Yes, thanks to that commit calibre on windows now behaves the same as macos/linux in not requiring a system tray icon for notifications. If you dont want notifications, turn them off in either calibre Preferences or windows notifications preferences for calibre.

Jon, the default for Look and Feel->Main interface->Disable notifications on job completion has been unchecked since calibre was first released. Changing long established default settings is best avoided.
Besides which, they can be turned off and on in Windows, without interrupting whatever one is doing in calibre… e.g. three modal dialogues deep in MDE. BR |

Only Windows required the system tray icon for notifications to work. Now, @Kovid just made it consistent between OS's. |

I've set it this way on Win 10:
As I have the Calibre setting in Look & Feel disabled, I see only the taskbar flashing upon a task completion, no notification banners at all. |

Oddly, I got a prompt to reboot after installing this, which only happens when I accidentally leave some part of Calibre running. Maybe a worker process got stuck open in the background.
Like to see this ![]() Are we now going to monthly full-releases instead of biweekly? |
