KoReader freezes/no longer works on Kobo Aura H20 Edition 2
I own a Kobo Aura H20 Edition 2 that had been running KoReader for several months with no issue. I tried to update the screensaver folder with an image (which I've done many times) but this time KoReader wouldn't launch, whenever I would select the KoReader image from My Books (which would launch KoReader) it just displayed an image instead of launching.
Okay, so I'm like whatever I'll reinstall everything. I did a factory reset on my Kobo and followed these instructions I saved: Quote:
What am I doing wrong? Did anything change? |

If KOReader is launching before step 5 that means you've already got an active fmon going or something. @NiLuJe knows more about that topic. You could also try https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=314220 instead
As an aside, for the stable releases you should go to https://github.com/koreader/koreader/releases or http://build.koreader.rocks/download/stable/ See https://github.com/koreader/koreader...n-Kobo-devices for the most up-to-date instructions. |

You'll probably also want to make sure the FW is up to date first, if you actually did a full factory reset.
And to use the latest stable, as there's a chance some March nightlies may be buggy on your device. If you can check if you have a first or second generation H2O2, that might be helpful (and/or post KOReader's crash.log, current versions should have that info). (And, FWIW, the still processing message is perfectly normal on the first reboot after a fresh install). |

It's also not clear what you mean when you say that "nothing happens". Does the device freeze inside KOReader's actual UI, or does it appear to freeze on the KOReader icon nickel opens when you tap it?

Okay it's working now, I will tweak my instructions here to help anyone else who has a Kobo Aura H20 Edition 2, just incase. The change I made were Frenzie's suggestion of using the stable release instead of nightly (not sure why nightly stopped working but it did), and also NiLuJe's suggestion of updating firmware of software before installing koreader.
Instructions below! Quote:
