Technically, the JB process injects a third-party certificate into the system certificate wallet at a specific location.

Now in 5.15.1.1, they change the wallet location, which will break the JB bridge (which still tries to mess the wallet at the old location, but the new software doesn't read from the old location anymore). So it doesn't matter anymore whether you did JB or not.

Until the JB bridge is updated, then better to stay at 5.15.1.
btw i think my device is already jb, since i can run ;log mrpi

I have a PW2 running the 5.12.2.1.1

I believe I managed to jailbreak it as kindlebreak.html made it reboot as expected then I was able to install K5 JailBreak Hotfix using the vanilla update menu.

However after installing MRI then moving Update_KUALBooklet_ff4134d_install.bin in mrpackages/ and typing ;log mrpi in the search bar of the home menu, nothing happens.

KOA2 here, running 5.14.3.0.1. KUAL (coplate) isn't displayed at all despite MRPI declaring success. More details here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=355319

Hi,

i have kindle paperwhite 1. I initially had 5.6.1 and downgraded to 5.3.3. I was able to jailbreak using k5 jailbreak from snapshot. I installed Kual and koreader. i was able to open books from koreader but the PDF showed error. I upgraded to 5.6.1 and then applied the jailbreak hotfix. I was again able to launch Kual notebook, but i cant install anything. log mrpi does not run, while install mrpi packages from kual crashes back to home. i am not sure if it is Kual issue or jailbreak issue as i can see the kual active doc and have partial functioning koreader. can anyone help?.

p.s. i am new here.

My Kindle Voyage is jailbroken. But I cannot get KUAL to appear in the book list.

I am looking at "Your Library" -> "Downloaded". The only icons are "Kindle Feedback" and "set Up Your Kindle." The firmware version is 5.13.6.

What am I missing?

If it matters, I'm trying to get the Downgrader tool installed to go back to factory firmware. KUAL is a prerequisite for that.

Thanks for any help!

The KUAL installation instructions are long and complicated because of the wide range of hardware, time, and firmware versions. You need to read and follow them carefully.

You have tried to install the kindlet version, which has not worked for years (since fw 5.9.x).

Find the instructions for the coplate version and istall the latest version of that (but first carefully read the first post in the KUAL thread).

After you downgrade to a version lower than 5.9 you can install the kindlet version if you really want to. (I know of no reason not to stick with the latest KUAL, but it is your choice.)
When you install new firmware, whether higher or lower than your current version, you have to reinstall all mobileread packages, including KUAL.

Thank you! That solved the problem. After a downgrade to 5.8.2, I was able to follow up with a downgrade to 5.5.0. My Kindle Voyage UI hasn't looked this good in years.

Reinstall KOL, then delete KOReader icon in Kindle Home menu (as if it was a book), then apply uninstall.bin again.

I had the same issue just recently. The problem stems from the icon setter extension.
