Check any simple extension for details (e.g., Helper).

Trying to install KUAL, seem to be failing.
I go thru this about every 3-4 years or so when I upgrade the Kindle, and it's a stretch(for me) each time. I transfered the files to all the right places, I think, but nothing seems to be happening, and I cannot find KUAL where I would expect it to be...

What could I be doing wrong..??

Hey, could anyone help me install the usbnet/ssh package. I don't understand the structure of the current installation.

From the Readme.txt I found following details:

Nothing fancy, as usual, with a jailbroken Kindle, just use the appropriate update file and install it the appropriate way:
either using MRPI, or the Update Your Kindle menu entry.
In any case, DO NOT reboot your device with a custom .bin in the Kindle's USB drive's root, it won't work.

I extracted the whole directory to Kindle root folder and tried to use MRPI install option from KUAL but no luck.

I am using the Paperwhite 2 FW 5.12.2.1.1.

Copy only "Update_usbnet_0.22.N_install_pw2_and_up.bin" file into "mrpackages" folder.

i have a PW 7th gen with FW 5.15.1.1 (auto updated yesterday) and now kual doesn't work anymore, i tried the normal and the coplate version without success, i remember last time i downloaded another version from somewhere that worked, but i don't remember where i got that version

Trigun, Firmware 5.15.1.1 introduce a breaking change to the system.
All current JB/hotfix methods MAY break.

In short, you are out of luck now.

Technically, the JB process injects a third-party certificate into the system certificate wallet at a specific location.

Now in 5.15.1.1, they change the wallet location, which will break the JB bridge (which still tries to mess the wallet at the old location, but the new software doesn't read from the old location anymore). So it doesn't matter anymore whether you did JB or not.

Until the JB bridge is updated, then better to stay at 5.15.1.

I can't seem to install KUAL. I applied the jailbreak on Kindle K3. I put the KUAL-KDK-2.0.azw2 in the documents folder but nothing appears in my library. What to try next?

Which firmware are you running? Later firmware requires the booklet version of KUAL denoted as the "Coplate" version.

Per the README.txt, you must use MRPI to install it. So copy the booklet install.bin to the mrpackages directory, eject and the use ;log mrpi to kick off the install process.
