From that clue I would guess the comic is The Smurfs.
9. Bill Bailey? |

Riiight, Beetle Bailey. The cartoonist is Mort Walker, that much I remember. He did something with Jerry Dumas, but I can't remember what it was, I don't think it ever came here, but I have a vague recollection of reading it in the Comics section of the Hartford Courant on Sundays.

One point for each correct answer. Where I ask what comics a person has created, you get one point for each comic. "Create" in this case does not neccessarily mean "invented", but only that the artist worked with this comic in one way or another.
Current score: orlok: 5 points Kumabjorn: 3 point Dreams: 2 points Bookpossum: 2 point pdurrant: 1 point Shayne Parkinson: 1 point Some hints are given here and here Last edited by Iznogood; 10-26-2012 at 10:30 AM. |

It sounded like that to me
Since no more answers has come in the last couple of days, I declare Orlok to be the winner of the comics quiz. The correct answers can be found here. It lookes like comics was a difficult subject. The unanswered questions was mostly related to european artists, but also some questions related to american comics was unanswered. I am especially surprised that noone recognized Don Rosa as the Duck artist in question #8. Over to Orlok for the next quiz Last edited by Iznogood; 10-26-2012 at 10:32 AM. |

Thanks. A good quiz topic, if a little obscure for some, possibly. I have always been a comic fan, but sadly do not always pay attention to the creators .
Here goes, a general knowledge quiz (all one-word answers): 1. Which Gemstones take their name from the Ancient Greek for Unbreakable? 2. What is the first name of the wife of US President Barack Obama? 3. The Greek Titan Prometheus stole what from the Greek Gods and gave it to mortals? 4. What was the nickname of trumpeter John Birks Gillespie? 5. What relation was Psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud to artist Lucien Freud? 6. What is the real surname of the action actor Vin Diesel? 7. Which battle was fought in present-day Belgium on 18 June 1815? 8. Jackson is the capital of which US state? 9. What is the first name of the (Liverpool) soccer striker Torres? 10. What connects the answers to the previous nine questions? |

Edit: Since we are a litterate forum, a (perhaps) well-known fact is that the novel "Frankenstein" has the title "The Modern Prometheus" - Victor Frankenstein tamed the thunder and the nature to create the creature Quote:

4. Dizzy
9. Fernando 10. Song titles? And, in light of my answer for number 10, I'd say that the answer to number 5 might be Grandad rather than Grandfather? Last edited by Bilbo1967; 10-26-2012 at 02:05 PM. |
