From the picture it doesn't look like a broken substrate, but it does look like it could be a controller failure. Straight line across splitting (in this case) the 2nd line would be typical of that.

It froze whilst deleting an article from Pocket and returning to the article list, hence the ghost of the dialogue and a few lines from the deleting article.
Main thing is you can see what I can see - no fractures or breaks. |

Currently thinking it is the screen PMIC (TPS65185) or one of its support components. Thread here.
So far as I can tell, the point of maximum current draw is during a full screen refresh, so that is the most likely point for the chip to fail if it is so minded. Last edited by DomesticExtremis; 10-06-2019 at 04:54 PM. |
