Kindle 3.0.3 jailbreak.
Okay. As you may already know, the 3.0.3 update fixed our good old jailbreak exploit.
EDIT/UPDATE: Updated jailbreak released. Last edited by NiLuJe; 10-19-2010 at 04:54 PM. |

Nothing from me. I've been busy with other things and haven't even downloaded the 3.0.3 update yet.

otaup call external openssl command to verify signatures.
If the openssl process exits with 0,then otaup script will happy to accept it. So, is it possible to to make a malformed sig file to let openssl exit with 0? Or use special script file name to bypass openssl? |

@lgx: Never experimented with malformed sig file, but I guess you'd have to be *very* tricky, it *is* OpenSSL, after all, and I tend to trust these guys ^^.
And it's called via absolute path, so tricking the script to use something else would be tricky, given that we're on a ro rootfs at that time. @Chinese/Duokan users: What kind of jailbreak are the Duokan guys using on the K3, anyway? EDIT: Okay, just looked at the duokan setup. It's basically the same (previous) exploit, used in a slightly different way, tailored to their specific needs (which is installing custom software, not just a single file ). UPDATE: Released. Hmm, what if we've jailed breaked with the old version, will updating from 3.0.2 undo the jailbreak, so I then have to rejail break or what?

Nope, once it's jailbroken, it's jailbroken, regardless of official updates.

Hello everyone and thank you for your great job,
I've got a kindle dx, with a software version 2.5.5 (serial number beginning with B009) i've tried to jailbreak with an error 003 (with update_jailbreak_dxi_install.bin) you mentionned about the jailbreak: v0.4.N: Works on firmware <= 3.0.3 . you say that the install FAIL if soft is 2.x, so no pb. but i've installed too, the usb network, that FAIL too, with the same error. so i don't understand, because i thought that 2.5.5 was the latest version of amazon soft. where am i wrong ? thanks |

that's working very well !
i've too configured before g:/kindle/usbnetwork/info with the good IP under vista, the driver "RNDIS / Ethernet Gadget" is not found but under ubuntu, you've just to configure /etc/network/interfaces with (my lan is 71, it is usually 1) : allow-hotplug usb0 mapping udev script grep map usb0 iface usb0 inet static address 192.168.71.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 192.168.71.0 broadcast 192.168.71.255 and after: ifdown usb0 (usefull sometimes) ifup usb0 ssh 192.168.71.10 hope that helps ! |

How exactly would I update Kindle firmware for a jailbroken kindle? I'm gonna guess that I can't just simply use stock updates. This is the only thing stopping me from jailbreaking my Kindle 3.
