If you have a key file enter its name in Connection --> SSH --> Auth Enter hostname/ip (it's easier with IP, you don't need to modify your hosts file) in Sessions, choose a name for your connection - e.g. Kindle - place it in the Saved Session text box and then press Save. |

Mmm, so no way to sort books by file name or anything like that if I want to designate a book's order in a series?
What's the latest on an alternative browser - I've only heard about skipstone, but nothing seems recent. Any other cool stuff I should look at but may have overlooked? I saw something about a gtk+ calculator, and maybe some games that I'll have to do more research on :P. |

Like for instance: 01 - First title 02 - Second title Etc. You can then choose on Kindle interface to show books sorted by name. Quote:

Gcalculator Kindle Explorer KindleNotes KindleReminder Koreader (if you ever want to read epub or pdf on Kindle) I have others (Kterm to name one, Rgbpaint) but they're not so useful to me, just proof of concept. |

Since I didn't block the auto-update (my big mistake), my jail-broken kindle paper white 2 updated the firmware to 5.6.1. The Jail-break tools I used is 1.12 not the latest one (1.14)
Now, I can't use the KOReader and any other awesome tools here any more. ![]() Tried to put the latest jailbreak (1.14) to the root directory ( /mnt/us ) as what I previously did, but the update menu is grayed which is samed as described by @NiLuJe in this thread. I can still launch the KUAL in 5.6.1, so I copied the MR Package Installer to KUAL extension folder. Question is which menu should be clicked (see the attached picture)? Actually, I clicked both of them and got the same result - flash back the main screen. I am wandering, in my case (before update to 5.6.1, didn't update the jailbreak to 1.14.N), there is no way, at least for now, to jail break and bring the KOReader back again, is it right? Thanks for any comment. |

I DON'T KNOW IF WITH 1.12 IT WILL WORK....
That said, you have to put the .bin you want to install into mrpackages folder you should have in your Kindle root directory, and after that, click on the latter button "Install MR Packages". For info: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...ht=MRInstaller The reason it flashed back to your home screen when you tried is that it did not find anything into mrpackages directory |

So, with the fw=5.6.1, is there any possible to update jailbreak from 1.12.N to 1.14.N? Thanks. |

Then for that you will have to wait for the developer of both, NiLuJe, sorry. I'm just a user who happened to have read a lot around here lately.

@ClearRiver: Nope, and nope.
First nope: JB was too old. Second nope: You're using an outdated KUAL version on top of that ![]() |

@NiLuJe, is there any plan to update the jail break to be used on 5.6.1? I believe a lot of people missed to update the jail break to 1.14. And now we are anxious to be jail broken. |

@mfirewire: Unless anyone comes up with a bright idea, a stroke of genius, or someone with a different set of skills takes an interest in the issue, don't hold your breath.
(Usual pessimism applies, since we've been doing this for a while now ;p). |

(Which is what I assume most people want.) There is still the possibility to jailbreak the device over the serial port. An "open Kindle" jailbreak (you have to open the device). At least of the PW2 and the KT2 (no decent pictures of the KV board yet). I am still working on a "Kindle Specific" serial-to-USB adapter - - But time demands are very high due to the season - so don't hold your breath for that project to finish either. |
