You can downgrade using the serial port.
If I understood it clearly, this involves taking the device apart in order to get access to the service serial port. Is this correct?

If this is the case, also considering (from the video) how hard it is to open the device, with all that glue, I am afraid imagine I will stay unrooted hoping someone :-) finds a way to break these new versions. Stupid me!

Yup - tear it open.
The K3 was the last device to give external access to the serial port.

I got the Kindle PW2 on 5.4.3.2 today, jailbroke it using the latest 1.14N file (It said jailbroken at the bottom), then took the OTA update to 5.6.1.

This means I have to use the MR Package installer instead of going through Kindle's "settings -> update firmware" method, correct?

Also, where can I find something to block future OTA updates in case they fix the current jailbreak?

However, when tossing the "Update_usbnet_0.18.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv" to the root of my kindle, the option to update my kindle is greyed out. What should I do?
Since fw 5.6.1 the old method does not work anymore. Use KUAL and mrinstaller (KUAL extension)

Install backdoorlock:

And/or

Create a directory with the name "update.bin.tmp.partial" (without quotes) in your kindle userstore root

Yeah I'm a bit in over my head on the reading. I re-read and saw KUAL/MRInstaller. How do I get to the helper menu in KUAL, I don't see it on my home screen even after restarting? And I don't need the Kual helper for this, do I?

Nope, just toss MRInstaller into the extensions folder.

I would suggest KUAL+ and Helper, just in general, they are tools that cannot hurt...

But it is not necessary for the functioning of MRInstaller.

There is a Wiki entry describing both: Kindle_Touch_Hacking#Blocking_Official_Updates

It's also handy, because Wiki entries usually have a handy, easily recognizable/memorizable name instead of a random thread number.

Okay, unpacked both. Uhh... KUAL launcher does not appear on the home screen after another restart. I have no active content. What should I do?

Edit: tried rebooting again and it showed up. Go figure.

Backdoor is now locked.

The [userstore] is the same as saying the root, right? Make a folder called "update.bin.tmp.partial" in the root of my kindle? Just trying to double check.

I usually bookmark important stuff if I can't figure out where to find it again myself.

otherwise known as the Kindle Drive. On Windows this is often "E:\"

You guessed the position right.
However "for the device" it isn't. What you see as root when you plug the kindle in usb mode is actually /mnt/us for the device itself.
I called it userstore to avoid confusion, sorry to have generated it instead.

Only you can use your bookmarks.
Instead, add links to an appropriate place in the Kindle Index pages.
Note: We now have KT2, PW2 and KV index pages - start filling them up.
