If this is the case, also considering (from the video) how hard it is to open the device, with all that glue, I am afraid imagine I will stay unrooted hoping someone :-) finds a way to break these new versions. Stupid me! |

Yup - tear it open.
The K3 was the last device to give external access to the serial port. |

I got the Kindle PW2 on 5.4.3.2 today, jailbroke it using the latest 1.14N file (It said jailbroken at the bottom), then took the OTA update to 5.6.1.
This means I have to use the MR Package installer instead of going through Kindle's "settings -> update firmware" method, correct? Also, where can I find something to block future OTA updates in case they fix the current jailbreak? Last edited by Spartan117H3; 12-03-2014 at 04:50 PM. |

Nope, just toss MRInstaller into the extensions folder.
I would suggest KUAL+ and Helper, just in general, they are tools that cannot hurt... But it is not necessary for the functioning of MRInstaller. |

It's also handy, because Wiki entries usually have a handy, easily recognizable/memorizable name instead of a random thread number. ![]() |

Edit: tried rebooting again and it showed up. Go figure. Last edited by Spartan117H3; 12-03-2014 at 05:19 PM. |

The [userstore] is the same as saying the root, right? Make a folder called "update.bin.tmp.partial" in the root of my kindle? Just trying to double check. I usually bookmark important stuff if I can't figure out where to find it again myself. |

However "for the device" it isn't. What you see as root when you plug the kindle in usb mode is actually /mnt/us for the device itself. I called it userstore to avoid confusion, sorry to have generated it instead. |

Instead, add links to an appropriate place in the Kindle Index pages. Note: We now have KT2, PW2 and KV index pages - start filling them up. |
