IMHO, Bookerly is a terrible font to use if you are reading KePub.
Why ChareInk is so popular? I tried to read with it but I doesn't work for me

I like ChareInk but you are free to make your own choices. Just as I like reading left justified (ragged right) and others seem to feel that is one step from blasphemy by not making an ebook look more like a pbook. If an ereader came out with micro-justification support, I could easily change my mind.

To clarify, micro-justification changes the spacing between letters as well as between words.

Because a lot of people like it. Not everyone likes the same thing or there would just be one serif font, one monopsace font, and one sans-serif font.

Obviously, but what are the characteristics that makes people like it.

Serif, easily readable, kerning, ligatures.

For a Kindle, reading KF8, you get smaller line height.

There are versions with added weight, and added hinting.

It's just the way it is. Some ppl like it, some don't.

I swore by Bookerly on my Kobos, used it ever since it came out, tried a few others and went back quickly to Bookerly.

Then I saw a post of Jon's and tried Chareink Noweight and the printed page immediately looked so pleasing there was no chance of going back.
Not tried to analyse it, but it's brilliant. Try it and if it does nothing for you, move on

I may have read over a hundred books over the last couple of years. I use mainly slab fonts. Capita, Lexia DaMa, Aleo, Bitter and Caecilia my favourite ones.

I also use from time to time Literata, IBM Plex, Merryweather and Georgia and I definitely love Goudy Old Style.

I’ve tried Chareink it wasn’t for me. I can get more lines in with a modified Literata Book (literally just taking it and adjusting line spacing to an actual standard) and I like the look of literata more in general.

The literata book provided by Google seems to have very odd line spacing values, all I did was set them to a standard I’d found via Google. For what it’s worth bookerly had similar issues.

Bookerly is a rather ugly looking font.

I only mention bookerly having the same issue as both fonts were released from major companies with the same usage in mind. I don’t think bookerly is ugly but that’s the thing with subjective values.

It does surprise me that Amazon has made Bookerly worse by removing the hinting that the Kindle needs to properly render Bookerly.

koreader does it, isn't it? I guess you prefer to use the stock reader.

Hi everyone,

The subject of fonts is very important and is a real plus in terms of reading comfort .

I have a question about the "Lexia" and "Lexia DaMa" fonts.

"DaMa" comes from "Dalton Maag", the creator of the "Lexia" font, so I assume that "Lexia" and "Lexia DaMa" are actually the same, but I'm not 100% sure .

Does anyone on the forum have more info on this?

Thanks in advance.

You can use font drop's compare feature and see if you can spot a difference
