I think the color has a different name different places. On amazon.de it´s Leder in Bordeux:

I voted no, but would have gone with probably not if that was an option. I actually pre-ordered the Merlot and then cancelled because the Voyage, which I have, is just all around the better device for me. I don't hate the Oasis and I don't hate Amazon. In spite of ordering on 4/13 my shipping date yesterday was 7/15-7/18 so that confirmed my decision to cancel and wait until later to see if I should try it.

I can't see me getting an Oasis. The price is ridiculous. I don't like the design either. I have small hands and it looks like it would be uncomfortable to hold. The HD Glo I have now is so tiny and weighs practically nothing. It's perfect for small hands like mine. I use to get so excited when a new Kindle was released but I guess those days are over. I won't say I got the perfect eReader in the HD Glo but it's close. I miss the Kindle dictionary feature and being able to email a book directly to my eReader.

I still say the Kindle Keyboard was the best Kindle. I still have mine.

That worked at the time likely because the C$ had dropped vs the US$ and the selling price in Canada hadn't been adjusted up. With the pricing on the Oasis the "current" exchange difference is priced in so you likely wouldn't come out ahead. Looks like it works out to about US$310 (no special offers) currently not including any extra shipping or currency exchange your bank or credit card might charge.

Which is exactly the price in the US without special offers, $310. You'll have to wait a few months, and see if the exchange rate varies in a favorable direction! If it varies the other direction, the Canadians will be travelling down here to buy theirs.

Yep. It had it was perfect timing with all the Holiday sales and the exchange rate. I got an amazing deal on eReader that normally costs alot more.

I'd keep an eye on it. I'm sure it will happen again.

I was thinking this would be the time to transition from an epub reader (Sony T2) to an Amazon Kindle. The re-appearance of real buttons was the key factor for me, but the cost is just too much. Guess I'll stay with my T2 for the time being.

I answered no, but the "nada, never" part doesn't represent my emotion. The reason I said no is that I am happy with the KV right now and see no reason to change. I tend not to update every time there is a new kindle anyway. My reason for buying the KV was the new screen, the fact that Amazon went back to 4 GB storage and the presence of page turn "buttons". If they come out with a better screen (color anyone?) I might jump. Otherwise, I can't imagine what else I would want that I don't have on the KV.

That being said, the Oasis looks like a good reader. I don't find anything to criticize except 2 possible issues:
1) Someone else brought this up as a question: I like to read on my side lying down. Hopefully there is a way to turn off rotating the screen or that would be difficult;
2) I have gotten spoiled with buttons on both sides of the reader. I wouldn't want to rotate to use the other hand.
