I have no clue what that means, sum what in what cell?
![]() I guess I'll be sitting using a calculator some other day. Now I am trying to dexypher what repasting values means. Oy. There is a dollar sign with the amount so I assume that is right, but I can't figure out how to get a total of all the holy moly many orders. No digital in this like Cin says, would be nice to have a easy total for ebooks also. |

Yeah, I noticed that too. Maybe they're trying to keep me from having a heart attack.

SUM is the term to get the total. Then you put the number of the cells in parentheses. Example would be (G2:G25) That should give you a total. The column is a letter and the rows are numbers. Better yet, find someone that loves spreadsheets. Want my daughter's email? |

When you open the .csv file it gives you an import dialog asking you a bunch of questions about how to import it, and gives you a preview of what the imported data will look like. In that Import dialog, do the following: Change the Character Set to: Unicode (UTF-8) In the fields preview, click on the Order ID column heading. Next, hold down the shift key, then hold down the right arrow until all Columns are selected except for order date. Change the Column Type combo-box from Standard to US-English. Now the imported data will be in a usable format. (You can also change some of the individual column types to "hide" if you don't want them imported as they're just extra noise). Now, to make it easier to use, click in cell B2 to select it and then in the menu choose Window->Freeze, which will keep the headings and dates on the screen. Now you can go to the Item Total column and select the range of cells that you are interested in (click in the first one to select it, then scroll to the last one in the ranage you're interested in without clicking anywhere in the spreadsheet, hold shift, and then click in the ending cell)... now you'll see the Sum along the line at the bottom... it says Sum = XXXX |

I'm using Excel, but I was able to highlight the subtotal cells and then choose 'AutoSum' from the menu.....I know nothing of spreadsheets, I hate spreadsheets...but it worked.

eta: I just saw twowheels post. I might need some wine before I attempt that. And I have to read that a few times cause I have no clue as of yet what any of that means. Only spreadsheets I ever use and do are the ones that have lines, I can spread a column width and type in stuff. That is about all I can do in there. Anything else is like chinese to me. Ok, with twowheels step by step I have a number. I now like to time travel back a few minutes to blissful unawareness
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I can't eve n ![]() ![]() ![]() And it doesn't even include the ebooks ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you so much twowheel for the instructions for a dummy like me. Ok, I guess some of the ebook cost would be in the number as I always add giftcards to the account and now they just get put on automatically and all ebooks come out of that. So the number is a tad less scary. It does list the gift cards on the totals. Last edited by Atunah; 09-28-2015 at 07:38 PM. |

Choose a starting point, note which cell it is... choose an ending point, note which cell it is... then in an empty cell type: =SUM(<start>:<end>) (where <start> and <end> are replaced with a cell number, such as U17) That'll give you the sum for that range. You can also start typing the formula, so in an empty cell type: =SUM( ... then select a range with the mouse... and then close the formula by typing the closing ) and pressing enter... that cell will now have the sum of the selected range. |

But in addition to that, I think the guidelines would lead to bad publicity due to sheer complexity. If I was making the cutoffs, one big goal would be to limit shipping costs. So if someone returned a very heavy, relatively low priced item, the weighting would be high: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wagg-Complet...words=dog+food But if I returned an eBook five minutes after purchase, that might hardly count. Something that has to be shipped, but is light, such as a computer chip, would count somewhere in the middle. I'd also consider if shipping was free, if the item was returned with packaging intact, and whether the scenario required Amazon to pay return postage. Then there's the return rate for the item purchased. If sized clothing has a very high return rate, and the customer only buys clothes, a higher return rate is going to be acceptable. Then there's the question of whether the cutoff would be the same in every country. From a business standpoint, as a loyal Amazon middle manager, I'd be more strict if the shipping costs in that country are high. But if it ever got out, that, oh, say, Josieb1 got hit because of shopping while British, I don't think that would go over too well. Quote:
Mine? Yep. My retirement kitty is to a large extent invested, by my employer, in the S&P 500. There probably aren't many companies discussed here (except publishers) where I don't have a share equivalent at this point. Last edited by SteveEisenberg; 09-28-2015 at 08:19 PM. |
