Audible will be a biggie for me too; and so will music - either cloud or radio (AOL, Pandora, etc). I have nearly 8,000 songs in Amazon's cloud; a good chunk of that is Prime Music. I won't do anything ebook related with this device, other than using the OverDrive app to get library books for my K4.

I plan on using mine for music, text-to-speech Kindle books, Overdrive, and perhaps as something of a pda for notes and calendar, etc. My Galaxy Light phone at 4" is fine for calls, but the screen is too small for my eyes and text input. Eventually I will get a phone with a larger screen, but this tab will help fill in the gap till then I think.

Nah, I am hoping in the meantime it will fit into one of my old pw, pw2, kfire1, k4, k3 cases. one of those old cases better fit, otherwise it will stay in the house until it arrives.

EDIT: I forgot the Touch case too!

I haven't fully jumped on board with Amazon's music service yet. I have @200 of my songs on their cloud as backup music in case my phone isn't available (where I listen to my music during my commute, and @50 which I've purchased from Amazon.

I've bought music from Amazon over the years, so that music is already there, supplemented with Spotify, iHeart radio, Pandora, and Plex server which has my complete music collection, so there is plenty of music to listen to :-)

I'm still offline with my music via the mediamonkey music player app. I am just too picky with my music listening to go online. I like iHeart or Pandor occasionally but like I said, I am not fully onboard yet with streaming.

I will download some select music to have for off line use, one reason I wanted the 16 gig model Fire. But most music I listen to is streamed one way or another. My daughter subscribes to Rhapsody and I think if I had it to do over again I wouldn't buy any music, but stream it all with a subscription service. As it is I'm having to convert old formats, fix mp3 tags, and back it up in several places so it is not lost if a computer crashes. I wouldn't do it again, much easier to get a service and stream it all IMO.

I pay $25 a year for Amazon's Cloud Player and probably have close to 200,000 songs on there. I also use Slacker Radio. I don't like Pandora too many ads and I don't get what's so great about it. I also use Tune In Radio Pro.

I tried Amazon's cloud player but they didn't have the option to upload playlists, and I listen by playlist 95% of the time. Which is why I am only uploading 200 tracks.

I am the same way, I bought most of my digital music from Napster, then they were bought by Rhapsody.

This is why I have Amazon Cloud Player so I always have a copy of my music and you can download if needed the mp3 files if you don't want to stream.

If you change one setting in MediaMonkey, you can stream to Grace Internet Radios. I have half a dozen of those radios and stream all my music to them via MediaMonkey.

You go to Tools / Options / Library / Media Sharing and just turn on MediaMonkey Library and you are good to go.

The MediaMonkey server appears on every radio and you can choose which playlists to run.

If you do this is your music still private just for you or does anyone have access to listen to it? The only time I turn my server on is when I want to sync my phone wirelessly.

To be honest, I'm not sure yet. I have to get it and see if I like the size and other things about it enough to offset the hideous carousel and unimaginative deep space black hole wall paper. It's possible that I might become bored with it and hand it over to my daughters permanently. The last Fire I had, the 2013 Fire HD, I got on that payment plan, before I was through with the last payment, I decided I didn't like it anymore. The Nexus 7.2 was just so much better! So I gave it to my girls.....but I sold it to get the Fire 6. I'm hoping I just love the size, hoping I'll like reading on it. It's probably too small to do the web on, but I do play a couple of games and it would be fine for that. I'm hoping it will be comparatively fast as the Nexus.

So it remains to be seen. I'd like to use it as a reader, and as a portable tablet to take in my purse for when I might be near free wifi. I'll definitely give it a good try. If I like the size and screen for reading on, that would be ideal, since I can use Calibre Companion and Moon+ Reader and store thousands of books. But if I don't like it, the girls will get it sooner rather than later. (I plan to get one for them for Christmas, if I just love the Fire 6). Right now, I just want to see it! LOL
