As the witness to this event I will also say that Rosie never moved from her original position, they shot her exactly where she stood peering at me through the bushes. The officers were shooting at a still target in a fully fenced off yard. If I would have known that they were going to gun her down I would have stopped them. I mentioned that in my original post on this, if he says "they had never had one this big before", exactly how often do they do this? Unthinking jerk - I hope he gets in trouble for it. Sounds like the entire department needs some classes and nice big revision on when it is ok to use your weapon.

Now I don't necessarily agree that either one is right, but we do live in a society that guarantees freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech is one of America's greatest treasures, and we need to keep a close watch to be sure it is not being abrogated. At the same time, we as a nation have chosen 'certain' things that can not legally be said. We can not falsely shout 'Fire' in a crowded public venue as it could cause harm to people. We can not shout 'bomb' in a crowded public venue as it could result in panic and bodily harm. We can not conspire to commit violent acts. These are all 'just words' that we have made illegal to speak.

Certainly a book that advocates harming children, discusses ways to limit penalties for sexually abusing minors, and espouses action that is so immoral that it is illegal in every single culture on the planet, should also fall under that umbra of 'just words' that we have made illegal to speak.

Just my vote, but I think this topic deserves its own thread, and I'd like to see it in the general forum.

It was on the news, so it seems to be pretty big story.

(I was wondering what MRs had to say about it, so I looked through the last day, found nothing, ran a search on pedophilia, found nothing. So I started to post a thread in the general forum. At the last minute, I tried another search on pedophile and found this. I don't want to start a thread myself, at least not without being sure if and where...)
