I also made some rules for column icons for each author who won a Nobel Prize an example icon appears: if the name of the author is Pablo Neruda the icon appears and so with the list of all winners

It's also possible to search by user category.

You can search by any Calibre column in the main UI.
Hover the mouse over the column header: The balloon has the name to use as the search scope (custom names always start with # ).

eg. In the search Bar, for User_tags is #usertags: Amazon US
Many (but not dates) of those custom columns ALSO appear in the Tag Browser, so you can start there and refine the details

Content indexer

Hi All,
I'm using Calibre as a library manager for a few thousand genealogy research files, mostly .pdf.I would like the content of these files to be searched and indexed on import into Calibre. Can anyone recommend a plug-in or app that can tell me where a specific word or phrase exists in the files I have collected?

I have tried DocFetcher but can't get it to run correctly on my Mint 19 Linux system...sigh. TIA

Try the Recoll Full Text Search plugin. The Drop Search Results plugin can import search results to set up Reading Lists (another plugin).

Howdy,

I've been using the chrome extension 'Spreed' to speed read through online articles. I love it, I think something similar would be a great addition to calibre!

@BetterRed
Thanks for the reply. I'll give both of those plugins a try. I was able to get DocFetcher to run and it is very fast and indexes content of many file types.

"Library Splitter" Plug-in

so i mark books to different lists.

Finally i tell Calibre:

Move list 1 to library a
move list 2 to library b
...
then i go for lunch and after i have moved all my books with the easiest way possible.

That plug-in already exists: Library Splitter.

Would it be possible to build a plug-in to integrate Calibre with LibraryThing? It would be best to wait for the redesign to finish up as they're revamping the add books function as part of it, but what I was envisaging was a plug-in to use calibre metadata to fill in the manual entry form.

Most books are added via a title / author / isbn / publisher / asin search from various data sources, but every so often you have to do a manual entry (especially for pre-ISBN titles.)

On and off, I keep wonderig/wishing for a couple of plugins...

"Collections/Bookshelf from Tags", I have a column for Bookshelf on Kobo and a column for Collections for Kindle. Due to the way things evolved, they aren't exactly the same and the way I did things, Bookshelf is singular on Kobo, while Collections is plural (I try to keep it to a maximum of 3...though I find myself thinking I should have a second shelf for Kobo (though I might create a hierarchy when I feel ambitious...)

But first, I'd like to have something like "More Tags for Amazon"... Using the sales rank areas as tag....IE: a book I'm looking at today...is ranked #31 in Historical Mysteries and #195 in Women Sleuths. So, those are my tags.... And, the shelf is "F:HistoricalMystery" (while collections are: F:Historical and F:Mystery.).... and if I had thought of it at the time....hierarchical shelf would be F:Mystery:Historical....

Wish I had given thought to tag consistence, another project for when I have more time...to keep me from actually reading any of the books in my library....

The Dreamer.

Check words

To see several books with errors, whether spelling or words misspelled, there will be a plugin that help editing a book?

You have two tools in the editor.
Spell checker: https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/es/edit.html#id36
LanguageTool plugin: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=313257

Plugin idea...

Hello PPL,
is there any developer willing to talk about the feasibility of a plugin capable of building a condensed version of an ebook selecting specific parts of the book?
Something like the firs n words/paragraphs or last m words/paragraphs ?
Thank you for your attention.

I don't get this. What would be the purpose? Condensed means abridged and this isn't even that.
