It is based on their web site, but the often overlook the smaller formats like AZW1 and AZW4 in their descriptions. Do add these once they are confirmed.

Don't they have to protect the USB port with some kind of plug? If you do the same to the cover connectors, you won't be able to effortlessly slide the cover on and off. That's probably why they didn't do water proof.

Also, kobo got there first so it probably ruined the appeal for Amazon

The PW3 and voyage look very close to same too, but most give an edge to the voyage. Wait for other reviews.

Personally having owned both i'd say the voyage is noticeably better and worth the extra over the PW3 any day of the week.

We LOVED the 300dpi Paperwhite display and while the 6-inch Kindle Oasis display retains the same size and resolution, it has some significant improvements. Sitting behind chemically-reinforced glass, the display is now lit from the side by 60% more LEDs. The result is that there’s a better range of brightness for improved reading. The light is diffracted through a new ‘cylindrical’ method, meaning the display is lit even more evenly than it was before. Most amazingly, the screen is now the same thickness as a sheet of tin foil.

Bottom line is we will not really know until we have production devices to look at and compare.

They don't say how it compares to the Voyage. This could be someone who doesn't see much difference between the Paperwhite and the Voyage. Also, it was a brief hands-on look, not a device they got to really look at thoroughly.

The designers have said it's because waterproofing would have made it weigh more. That's obviously the factor that was their primary concern over everything else. And that's probably a big reason why we won't see a larger screen from them.

Amazon has decided you don't need it to be waterproof, you need it lighter! They don't care that both Kobo and Nook have had waterproof ereaders for a while now. (I think Onyx is releasing a waterproof model soon too.)

Does anyone who's in the UK have any idea where you can still see Kindles in a crick and mortar shop? I know Waterstones have done away with their display and I checked my local John Lewis and they don't have them out either. Not sure if this is quite the right place for the question but hopefully it's relevant enough!

John Lewis and Currys sell them and have display stands.

John Lewis should have them out, unless they are refreshing their display ready for the Oasis.

The Oasis has a glass screen, like the Voyage hence, like the Voyage, one might reasonably expect better contrast than the PW3 (because the glass screen is more transparent than the plastic one).

The PW3 does not have anything over the screen. The top surface of the PW3 screen is the top of the E-Ink layer.

But I admit that I haven't seen a voyage in person. It might well have better contrast. But not because the PW3 has plastic over the screen.

Thanks - Argos doesn't really have most of its products on display, you have to order them at the till and they bring them through at the warehouse.

Thanks, I completely forgot about Currys! I'll need to find an excuse to swing by one. I couldn't even see where they were supposed to be in JL - I found their tablets/MP3 players/laptops/cameras area and I expected it would be there, but I couldn't find any! Odd.
