I will admit to being tempted; while my Glo is still working well, the Aura H2O is too large for my mobile reading (plus I gave it to the wife), and the Aura looks to be about the same size as the Glo (and has a 4GB internal card as opposed to the Glo and it's 2GB).

does Kobo do price matching? I just found Don Pendleton's The Executioner series for $2 a book at B&N and just purchased them at Kobo last week.

Not after the fact, but sometimes they and Amazon do match the various deals of the day. Google does a deal or two as well and there is generally matching. But those deals are often pretty short term.

Thanks. I was kind of hoping for a "find it cheaper in 2 weeks" kind of deal. Oh well. $3.75 is still pretty cheap :-)

I've never really looked whether or not the ebooks are in My Library because I download them immediately after purchasing them. (Including kepubs)

I meant the Kobo app for tablets (I use a Fire.) I don't use the app for much but, as I posted, it has come in useful when a book's gone 'missing.'

Contest seems to be over. I bought 42 books 4 of them didn't show up in my library, but I have receipts for them. I've received 2 refunds, and I am waiting on the other 2 refunds.

Susan when you say 4 books didn't show up in your library, do you mean that they didn't show up in either kobo Desktop nor your kobobooks.com account's MyLibrary?

So in otherwords were those 4 ebooks kepubs and not epubs, or was there a no show irrespective?

Lucky you finding books to buy - I couldn't and I don't think I've bought a Kobo books for possibly 2 months.

Wow. Back when you could travel with the coupons and there were decent ones around, I bought quite a few books, but since the restrictions have gone into effect I think I've bought one book from the contests. Kudos to you for finding that many!

I'm not sure I am answering correctly, but I'll try.

I bought the book. I have a receipt, it is on my cedit card, it is in my kobo purchase history.

When I pull up the book in the search bar on KOBO, it displays the "view in library" button, so KOBO thinks I have it too. However, when I go to my library, either by following the view in library link or by the "my library" button, the book is simply not there. NOt on my reader, not in my library, not in the KOBO desktop. Nowhere.


I have read comments about kepubs and I just don't understand what they are. One of the missing books is Red Dirt Heart 4 by NR Walker. It says EPUB2 -DRM free. But I have other books that state EPUB2 DRM free that I didn't have problems with. Customer service stated, via email, that the "link" is broken. Even though I tell them I want the book, not a refund, they gave me a refund. They did not replace my coupon.


I have never had a problem with downloading any KOBO books, other than this problem I am explaining. (This has happened to me in the past, but never so many at once). Some books end up being pdf that I have to put into adobe before pulling them into calibre with the plug in, but I can read them.

I am buying mostly mm romance books from small publishers that are never coupon ineligible, so I can usually find plenty to buy. I use multiple email accounts to gather coupons and I buy the books with two accounts so I can get 2 books per coupon. I was lucky in that when KOBO switched to the longer passwords, I had created a system and remembered the next time, and now I don't have to create new accounts.

For this contenst, I had one 75%, two 65%, four 55%, three donated 55%, I used 2 35% on $1 books, and the rest were 45%

I wonder if it could have something to do with the coupons being used double so something goes wonky with the transaction. Then again, there are a lot of other things that seem to go wrong with the various epub types so it's really hard to say.

I agree. I had one book that didn't show up in my purchased books. The coupon I used was one posted here. My theory: maybe two of us added a book using the same coupon, which showed as still being valid because neither had finished our transaction before the other had added the promo code.
But the 2nd one who finished the transaction (me in that case), had it "work" in that they got the receipt email, but it didn't show up in the library.

In my case, I phoned them and they added said book to my purchased list. ...They could see I'd bought it, even that I'd used a chapters gift card and didn't even suggest a refund. So in my case, it worked out. I became suspicious when someone on here had the same issue while consciously using their own coupon twice by using multi tabs and entering it twice before finishing the transaction. ..that made me think that situation caused the issue.

@Susan A: Were any of the books from Smashwords?

One of the books I bought was a recent (December 2014) Smashwords book. It shows in my purchase history, the book's page on Kobo shows "View in Library", but it's not listed in my library. I did not do anything tricky like multi-tabbing or trying to use a coupon on multiple accounts. The book does not show up in Kobo Desktop.

A few other people have recently had similar problems:

@BuyMore, @Fbone and @Terisa de morgan: Do you remember if the books you had problems with were recent Smashwords books?

I'm thinking there may be a problem with recent books from Smashwords. Maybe the actual book isn't getting loaded into Kobo's system or something.

I haven't contacted Kobo yet because I'm pretty sure that their solution will be to just issue a refund rather than trying to figure out what's wrong.

I didn't try to use a coupon more than once. ..just used one posted on the forum (contest, so one time use), so everyone else had access simultaneously...anyone using such a coupon could have it happen.

Anyway, mine wasn't smashwords. Or new. And I had no issues with the other two I got further on in the series.

So, seems that there could be two different issues.
