Ya'll have convinced me to revive my barely used HQN rewards account. Bought a book. Didn't even put it on the TBR (that's already miles and miles long).

I'm reading Fever Zone by Cindy Dees. It's book 3 in her Doctors Unlimited series. I'm reading out of order because it was given in exchange for a review. I don't know if I'm going to make the deadline though. I'd forgotten why I stop reviewing. It's no fun if you have to hurry.

The first books of the series are HQN published but this one is self published.

I'm still chugging along on Into The Night which is so horribly slow. I don't care for the h/h. I don't care for the back story of WWII. It's only the continuing Sam/Mary Lou/Alyssa story that keeps me reading.

I bought a few books previously mentioned.

I don't need to say how horrible this week was. Here's to a better day.

Blossom, thanks for the heads up about ADE version and Google Play books, but how do you tell which version of ADE you have? I can't find it, but have had ADE since 2010, so I'm guessing it's an early version. There's a Google play book (acsm file) I bought a couple of weeks ago that I can read on my phone & tablet, but can't download to my PC. I'm wondering if I need to update Digital Editions, but am not keen to do so as otherwise it's working perfectly, and I don't usually buy from Google Play.

I'm sorry about the loss of your beloved Maisie. My precious Abby passed away two years ago aged 20 years, and I'm still unable to even think about getting another cat.

Should be like any other program. Click Help from the top menu then about.

I wouldn't update ADE past version 2 due to the potential issues if sellers start implementing the "new" hardened DRM. Never had a problem downloading (other than occasional temporary errors) using ADE 2 to download from Google.

You will like ADE 2.0 you can multi delete library books now. I just got rid of 400 expired books from over the years. I gave up on trying to delete one by one. That in itself is worth the upgrade. I was stubborn in waiting but 2.0 seems safe.

I'm sorry for your lost. I realize I have not kept this thread up to date. I've been posting in the lounge. Maisy is still with us. My only ride to the vet had an emergency so Maisy is thankful for that. I've connected with some great cat owners going through the same disease. They convinced me not to give up. The vet is wrong it's not expensive as we was told. All we need is to get her full blood work up so we can get a insulin prescription and this one insulin is really affordable and I can do all curve testing at home with an inexpensive glucose meter and spreadsheet.

Diet is the biggy. The vomiting has stopped once I did extensive research on cat foods and feline diabetes. Our biggest challenge right now is getting her sugar down. High sugar causes the digestive problems. Carbohydrates are the enemy. First thing payday. I'm throwing out her corn flakes (Iam's) I had no idea about what I was feeding her all these years. I will be getting a grain free dry food with no bad fillers and slowly start moving to completely to canned food. I started feeding her canned food and seen her energy levels come up. She will not eat the solids from wet food only sauces so I'm gonna puree it. I've got a stick blender coming tomorrow.

Maisy is too much of a fighter to quit. I truly believe she will let me know when she doesn't want to anymore.

Our first goal is to get her litter box habits back to normal. I'm convinced it's the Iam's Sensitive Stomach causing it. She's never had any problems till this food. She's had to learn how to deal with it quickly but she's doing alot better she is getting up and down fine and she is jumping on things something she hasn't done in years. She normally pulls herself up. This is a big sign to me we are on the right path.

Thanks, Anaemic Oak. I eventually found the version, which is 1.7.2.1131. I will try to download version 2, but if I can't I'll leave it as is. I'm not overly fussed about not being able to save that one book to my PC.

Blossom, I'm so glad Maisie is still with you.

glad to hear maisie's still around. diabetes sucks (i have it), but it doesn't have to be a death sentence. does she have kidney problems from her high blood sugar? if so, is she on sub q lactated ringers solution? our cat has FKD, and at first he really didn't like having sub q, but now he's usually okay with it.

our elderly cat is having problems, and isn't eating much solids, so i was going to try and puree his food, too! great minds, right? hope it works for both of the cats!

The vet didn't say anything but it was a free exam with alot of bad news. We are on our own basically I am calling around for blood work and prescription service prices.

The puree food ideal was given to me by a lady here in the lounge. I would have never thought about it. Amazon has a stick blender for 11.90 that I ordered.

I hope your kitty feels better. I'm very familiar with diabetes my mom had it for years and my uncle who passed away from it. Feline version is a bit different but alot of similarities.

Glad to hear your cat is making good progress, Blossom.

Lush, I still have ADE 1.7 on my main PC but installed 2 on my laptop when the stuff with Google Play first happened. Here's the original thread which includes where to get version 2 ADE and Google Play Problem. You might want to consider at least downloading it in case version 1.7 ceases to work.

I was so glad to read the good news about your mom, and now about your kitty-cat. In effect, your mom's fall saved kitty's life. Blessings all around.

Feel The Heat by Kathryn Shay is free at Amazon

Quote:
She saves him from a fire, then steals his heart without even trying. When white hot attraction kicks in, sparks fly!

Francey Cordaro is a dedicated firefighter, devoted daughter and a loyal friend who has made her way in a man’s world. She rejects material goods, doesn’t give a whit about her striking looks and focuses on saving lives, spending time with her family and friends, working out and playing poker with the guys. Until she meets Alex Templeton.

A wealthy businessman, Alex is the epitome of success in every area of his life. A decent man, he returns home to run the family company when his father takes ill and his brother loses his way. What he can’t control is his reaction to the sexy firefighter who dragged him from near death. She’s gorgeous, fun-loving and challenges him at every turn. But she refuses a relationship with him.

With differences that rival champagne vs. beer, uptown galas vs. karaoke bars, and the world of high finance vs. the reality of walking into burning buildings, their relationship seems doomed. Or is it?

With a secondary reunion romance as fiery as Alex and Francey’s, and cameo appearances of readers’ favorite firefighters from Hidden Cove, as well as Shay’s trademark tense and exciting rescue scenes, this book will pull on your heartstrings and make you route for these very likable characters.
