LOL yep, I'm the wife of DevilsAdvocate (aka Chris). And while he's good for myriad things (not all of which are appropriate for a family forum), he hasn't yet managed to hypnotize me into believing snow is something good, and that my feet aren't cold. The warming up in this family works the opposite direction - I warm the bed every night. It's ok, though. I don't think I could stand being without him for longer than a day.

LOL ok, I got completely off track there. DGma, I was coming to show you a picture of the Asus T91MT (christened Li'l Bit), in action. This is in portrait mode using Calibre for ebook viewing.

Tremendously!! This has turned out to be exactly what I wanted - plus the battery life is more than twice what it was advertised to be. Maybe because I'm not using it to watch video or play music.

Okay Shel.........I just looked it up on Amazon.

Apparently its like my Asus 1000HE, but the lid swivels and closes so that you can read it 'flat'?

Plus, yours is a touch screen?

My Asus has about an 8 hr battery life.....

Can you tell me what the difference between your 32 gb solid state hard drive and my 160 gb hard drive is?

Solid State is...........?

The way I understand it, solid state drives have no moving parts, therefore greatly reducing the risk of data loss by mechanical failure. I added an 8 gig SDHC card to this to store my books, so I don't take up the hard drive space remaining after the operating system install and necessary software.

You've got the rest of it right... it swivels into tablet configuration, and it is a touch screen, which comes in really handy when it's in tablet mode. And I get about 10 - 12 hours battery life, which impresses the heck out of me, considering it is advertised at 5 hours.

I'm going to have to remember that the next time I'm in the market for a gadget.

Solid state=quiet, no moving parts

hard drive= moving parts, more chance of something going wrong......some noise. The Asus is pretty quiet.....

Enjoy!

In addition it uses MUCH less battery than a spinning platter drive hence increases battery life on the unit.

Of course, SSD's are much more expensive given the same size which is why the SSD is 32GB vs your 160GB spinning platter drive.

Please keep in mind that SSDs can and will eventually fail in much the same way a USB thumb-drive will fail, as they are the same technology; they just haven't been on the market long enough for anyone to have found out the hard way.

Not trying to start an argument (with my wife or anyone else) but everyone needs to stay informed; SSDs are the future but they're not bulletproof.
