Z-chan, my cats have always shown care for me when I'm sick, too. (Unfortunately, they also like to "help" when I'm trying to get homework done... e.g. by laying on the textbooks, the computer keyboard, etc.) |

We had a cat wake us up when the hamster got out of its cage. He stood on the stairs crying piteously until we came and retrieved the little rodent. He knew he wasn't allowed to eat the hamster, and having it wandering around was just hurting his tiny brain.

Though I see myself more as an eagle, flying high above, some see me more as a chicken..lol.
No we had this talk once where people needed to describe the animal character in a human, and people called me a fish... Probably because I was a very good swimmer, and was always to be found in the pool or ocean... But if I have to choose cat or dog, it will be certainly a dog! I actually hate cats and their arrogant behavior. Though some cats can be cute when they're playfull. My most desired pet would be a dog. A German Shepperd. They are amongst the most faithful friends of a human, and they also have reasonable intelligence! |

On early weekend mornings, my bedroom door would squeak open, followed by the sound of toenails clicking on the tile floor. Opening my eyes, I would find a dark wet nose within inches of my face. Feigning sleep only resulted in Charlie leaning over to snuffle and pant at me. He always seemed to have a happy grin on his furry face and was excited about the new day recently dawned. As much as I disliked that morning greeting (prefer a cozy warm body that curls up next to me and purrs me back to sleep), the exuberance of that dog was contagious. He would practically vibrate with joy when I donned warm clothes, boots, and borrowed one of my Dad's hats to go for a walk in the drizzly rain on a chilly fall day.
Charlie is the only dog I ever had who would go into the garden and pick his own ear of corn. Of course, he often forgot to take the ear of corn off the stalk and left the husks and silks in middle of the front yard. He didn't like any creature setting foot on his property and announced an intruder's presence no matter the hour. Squirrels were tolerated but chased often. Charlie was a social animal and liked be as close as possible, even if that meant sitting on your foot. He showed his disappointment when left at home alone and expressed giddiness when his family returned to him. I miss Charlie. Dreamer |

I had a vegetarian dog once. He would pick tomatoes from the vine and eat them. This time of year when we had late greens (mixed mustard and turnip) he would go into the garden, find a turnip, pull it up by the green part, take it out of the garden and eat the turnip. I never saw him mistake a mustard green for a turnip green. Also loved watermelon.

I am very much a cat person and managed to marry a guy who is also a cat person. We have a pair of Bengals, one brown and one silver, which is a breed known for being very outgoing the "golden retriever" of cats. Dusty, my 17 lbs. silver boy plays fetch with his fuzzball and like a dog brings his favorite toys to you to play with him. Yes, he is supposed to be that big, he is not overweight. Cayenne, the 9 lbs. little brown girl doesn't play as much, but cuddles every time we sit/lay down and comes to her name. Both follow us around the house and fuss if they are not getting enough attention to suit them. They do not ever go outside because the vet recommends not giving Bengals a feline Leukemia shot. Both get regular baths for the sake of my allergies. The litters were born a few hours apart to the same breeder so they think they are litter mates and act like it. At 4 years of age they are cuddled up asleep together on a dog bed near me at the moment.
I like dogs and have a very soft spot for Dingo also called Blue Heeler dogs, but prefer living with cats. My husband, however, does not like dogs at all so it will never be a possibility. |
