Truth be told I just found out yesterday Katie ...corgi in picture ....has Diabeties. I now thinking IF they get the refund to me I can use it to buy her meds. Make payments on the PW3. Take me trying to decide between the PW3 & the Kobo glow hd. While both seem to have the same reviews. I Not been able to find a thing out about Kobo CS good or bad. 1 bad is IF I buy the Kobo esp at this great price & savings esp with the exchange rate dollar wise & it is defective me mailing it back going to cost $25 at todays currency exchange. Which right there means it costs more than the PW3. In All my exchanges with Amazon Shipping has cost me ZERO.
If reliable CS is a big concern of yours I would strongly recommend you stick with Amazon.

Stories about Kobo CS range from "difficult to get in touch with" to "difficult to get satisfactory results from". Just based on the forum discussions I have seen... it seems that while the Kobo itself can be a very satisfactory device, peoples' happiness with their Kobo goes abruptly downhill as soon as they need CS for anything.

I've got my HD Glo and love it but I agree Amazon has the best support. Also with Kobo you have to do some hacking to enable features so you need to be comfortable dealing with that. It's a learning curve for me.

You left out the people who post saying they've had good or very good service from Kobo CS. So don't make it sound worse than it is.

Jon, Jon, Jon...

The fact that people can and do get bad CS from Kobo, often enough to make it become an actual meme about Kobo, means that for someone who sees CS as the main factor in choosing a device, Kobo is NOT a good choice.

Maybe you get good service from Kobo CS. But far more likely, you don't.
The fact that certain longtime Kobo-owning members here are okay with the level of CS they get, does not fill me with confidence.
The fact that the majority of discussions about Kobo CS involve people complaining about it, does not fill me with confidence.

I am willing to acknowledge that Kobo CS *can* be good, and *can* result in satisfactory outcomes.
But one does not choose a device based on whether the main determining factor *can* work out, but doesn't have to and in fact usually doesn't.

My customer service experience with Kobo was both terrible and excellent. It took about 2 weeks of trying every day, sometimes over and over again, to finally get through to them. When I finally did the guy was surprisingly helpful. He didn't really know how to solve my problem but he did a bit of digging and found a solution.

That makes me concerned about buying another Kobo but if I wanted one I probably wouldn't let that stop me from getting it.

Since CS is iffy I been thinking of getting a Used Kobo Glo hd. Any one know what a good price would be in US$$ New on the site is $129.. Canadian dollars... What would that translate into US$$? I was thinking about 1/2 that. ? I could adv for one in the Flea Market on here IF I had a clue as to what to offer some one & S&H of course.

The price on the Kobo site is what you'll be charged in USD (they currently show $109.99 w/ free shipping). For currency conversions when buying from someplace like Chapters you can use this site...

http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/

Don't know how easy it'll be to find a used one since it's a current device that hasn't been out a year yet, but I doubt you'll find one for 1/2 price (considering what most older readers still often go for). If you do it'd be a great price.
