Hmmm. Well now, there ya go. I've spent most of my time in the Windows world and learned well there the lesson never to be an early Microsoft adopter. Sometimes it's even safer to skip an ENTIRE OS iteration, like Me or Vista or 8. But wouldn't you know, I didn't think Apple could be as bad. I really did assume Apple had something more on the ball, and that I could safely download an update from Apple, based upon its reputation and the fact that all us lemmings had embraced its authoritarian over-priced "our way or the highway" mode of business and technology. That's the price we pay for "quality"... until I very recently learned: Ha!...not so much, Apple. Not so much.

Live and learn.

Personally I'm happy staying at 7.1.x until Yosemite is released and debugged. Then if I hear/read that Yosemite plays better with iOS 8 than Mavericks does with iOS 7, I'll consider upgrading. That doesn't rule out getting a new iPad next month if something really cool gets released, but I'm not actually in the market for one. I assume any new iPads will come with iOS 8 installed just as new iPhones do.

With Ive in charge of software they don't seem to have the handle on it as they did pre-Ive. I still can't believe Apple placed an industrial designer in charge of the OS folks!

I'm certainly not going to put her on 8, but is it too late now to put her on 7, or is there still a way?

Not that I have any compelling reason to put her on 7, either.

Good work, nice app! I moved to Bluefire long time ago when I noted iBooks randomly displaying epub pages as blanks. After unproductive googling to solve this mystery, I concluded iBooks might simply be less forgiving when rendering Caliber created newspaper epubs. Those same epubs however displayed just fine in Bluefire with nary a problem.

I dispatched a warning to family members telling them not to update. Didn't want them pestering me with troubleshooting. lol

Did anyone get a carrier update yesterday by the way? I'm wondering if the big issue is that people didn't apply that beforehand? I was wondering through the General settings yesterday morning and it popped up, this was a few hours before the Apple update was pushed.

From that article: "The iOS 8.0.1 update had been made available online for less than an hour before it was pulled on Wednesday."

That was very quick. There have probably been shorter-lived updates, but I can't recall any.

On the plus side, I'll bet many people here (myself included) will be a tad more cautious about installing the next update. I didn't install 8.0.1 and I'm glad I missed it, but I didn't hesitate to install 8.

I do plan to buy an iPhone 6 in a couple of months. Hopefully by the time I get it, the bugs will have been ironed out. By the sound of it, though, I may have to iron my own phone to keep it flat .

I've got 8.0.2 on my iPad 2 and it seems to be doing ok. Oh, I had to delete my kobo app, reinstall it, and download my entire library before any of my books would open, but 8.x did that to the Kobo apps on all my devices. The issue is obviously with Kobo. (I will likely end up switching to Bluefire. It hesitates a bit more than I would like when it syncs, but I've got purchased books that still won't open at all on my Kobo app...and I really would rather read than spend my time fussing with buggy software.)
