Of course. I've read them though and I'm not much of a re-reader. I think I did read the first book in the other series The Edge? On the Edge? Something like that--I read that one twice.

It doesn't start that way, but I'd say it starts to lean heavily that way by book 2 or 3.

If y'all still have kobo coupons--one I just finished and it ROCKED (It will be the buddy read over at my blog this coming week) was

Rachel Aaron - Nice Dragons Finish Last

This is her first foray (I think) into self publishing. She's better known for her Eli Monpress series (which I didn't love, but to each their own). I forget which trad publisher published that series, but I know it was trad.

http://store.kobobooks.com/en-US/ebo...ns-finish-last

It's five dollars, but coupons work. It's also YA, but has some very cool characters and fun plot. There were a few typos (very, very minor--a missing word now and then).

I should also say that the books don't let the romance take over completely--there are actual plots and some very good plots at that. However, I'd say by book 3 or so the romance/mystery plot is about half and half. In the first book there is almost no romance although you can see that it will likely develop. There is lots of action and some good fight scenes, some great and varied characters, but there is definitely a romance edge (some books more than others) and it has its own overarching plot across several books. There is also a mystery/intrigue plot that goes across all the books (the main's background and the threat from that direction). I was quite intrigued by the background plot through several books, but was disappointed in it in the end...or at least the direction it took.

I think it's possible you might enjoy the first book for $1.99, (at that price it's hard to complain too much) but you might be less enamored with the series and it goes on.

Book view café is having a 50% off sale of selected books until July 28
http://bookviewcafe.com/bookstore/category/bvc-sale/
You choose DRM free epub or mobi and the discount is applied at the checkout.
Unfortunately the books are listed by title in the sale rather than author so there are four pages to search through.
From their about us page
"Book View Café is a cooperative publisher. Our members are authors across all genres, from science fiction to romance to historical to mainstream. We offer both reprints and new titles, currently in ebook form. At BVC, 95% of the cover price goes to the author."

Below are some of the authors in the sale that might be of interest to this thread.
Doranna Durgin
Nancy Jane Moore

Stephen Baxter's "The Time Ships" has, at long last, been released today as an ebook (in the UK at least). This is an official sequel to H.G. Wells's "The Time Machine", and one of my very favourite time travel novels. I've been waiting for it to come out as an ebook for many years, and I think the £2.99 price is very reasonable.

Amazon description:

Quote:
Written to celebrate the centenary of the publication of H G Wells’s classic story The Time Machine, Stephen Baxter’s stunning sequel is an outstanding work of imaginative fiction.

The Time Traveller has abandoned his charming and helpless Eloi friend Weena to the cannibal appetites of the Morlocks, the devolved race of future humans from whom he was forced to flee. He promptly embarks on a second journey to the year AD 802,701, pledged to rescue Weena. He never arrives! The future was changed by his presence… and will be changed again. Hurled towards infinity, the Traveller must resolve the paradoxes building around him in a dazzling temporal journey of discovery. He must achieve the impossible if Weena is to be saved.

John Brunner's Shockwave Rider is $1.99 at Amaon right now.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J5X5M42/

In a world drowning in data and information and choking on novelty and innovation, Nickie Haflinger, a most dangerous fugitive who doesn't even appear to exist, provides a window onto a global society falling apart in all directions, with madness run amok and personal freedom surrendered to computers and bureaucrats. Caught and about to be re-programmed, can he escape once again, defy the government and turn the tide of organizational destruction?

Tinker is on the Windrider's Oath Baen CD and Wolf Who Rules is eligible for Kobo codes (check this thread or use PERKOPOLIS for 40% off), so you could get the whole series for $8.19 or less.
