Non-members can shop online and pay a 5% surcharge. Unfortunately, this offer is in-store only.

I've been thinking that the 4GB model may be fine. I have a 32GB microSDHC card in my tablet that's already loaded with music, so there would be no additional expense for the expanded storage.

I'll give it some further thought. I'm partial to the orange too.

That's interesting. I tried doing that about ten years ago, and it required a membership number. I'll look into it for other purchases in the future.

Sansa Players currently available at Newegg. There are quite a few 4GB Zip and Plus models starting at about $35, with free shipping. (In the US, I suppose. I don't know about internationally.)

--I ended up buying a Sansa Clip Zip 8GB today at Costco.

--There is a $10 off manufacturer's instant rebate that's taken off at the register, so I paid $45 ($70-80+ retail, Costco reg. price=$55). So that's pretty close to the previous sale of $40. I'm assuming this instant rebate went into effect right after the previous sale ended. I couldn't get to Costco before now so I'm pretty happy with the $45 versus $40. Thanks for the original heads up tubemonkey!

--So, if anyone is still in the market for one you can get it for $45 (I think the instant rebate ends around Aug. 14).

YW; and congrats on your new toy. I'm sure you'll enjoy it like the rest of us do.

These "sales" are really instant rebates and generally run 2~4 weeks. The previous $40 offer was also an instant rebate ($15).

That seems an odd decision on their part.

I went to the service desk. I said, "I'm considering a membership. I'd like to look around the store." They gave me a little slip of paper. The slip told me what the surcharge percentage was. I went into the store. I later signed up.

I let the membership lapse after a while. A few years later I went back and did the same thing.

I would never have paid for a membership otherwise. I would not go through the hassle of signing up, not liking it, and getting a refund. Even if they replaced the food samplers with strippers, I'd want to see that it's worth the money.

No it's just a mp3 player. It doesn't have any of those fancy features like WiFi or Bluetooth. It's so small you just clip it on your shirt and use regular ear buds.

I went and bought the 4GB red one after reading all your recommendations. I am just loading it with some ebooks and am taking to to the gym later. I love the MSD card option!

Thanks tubemonkey...I bought it when you first posted the info on the sale. I love it. I put all my audiobooks on it and 8 gb was perfect. I take it on walks and workouts and wait times in my life. It is so small and light and the sound is great.

The Clips are currently on a two-year release cycle:
  • Sansa Clip (Oct 07)
  • Sansa Clip+ (Aug 09)
  • Sansa Clip Zip (Aug 11)
I just bought another zip clip.

I see you said every 2 years new clips come out. That means next month. If they still are going to. Anybody hear that?

I think they may stop making mp3 players because when you look at Overdrive website for audiobooks compatible they are only a few companies left that make them. Sony no longer makes wma compatible. Seems they are all going to Android. I wonder if the Library will stop having wma books now that I have 3 clips.

I'm tempted by this - the buttons on my current Clip Zip, which I love dearly, have started to wear out. Sadly, I think it is not long for this world.
