What a lovely thread...

Congratulations to all you new kindle owners, and I'm happy to see that the gifted kindles were so well received.

So great to hear about everyone's excitement

I have, without luck, tried to get my family (adult children) interested in ebooks/ebook readers.

I think it is a great thing because people like me who rarely ever ( never ) pick up a book, now have a chance to read. I have never really been interested in reading, however I am extremely interested in technology. So because of this new invention of e-ink I have finally become interested in reading. I love it and am looking forward to reading much more =)

It is a source of ongoing disappointment to me that none of my family or friends are interested in ereading at all despite the fact I've been plugging it for good year or more.

But I finally had a minor breakthrough yesterday when I got hubby interested in Kindle for PC because I was using it with the new 2-column feature and he liked it and would consider using it to buy Amazon books on his laptop! Amazing. So that's a bit of a result
