I know the "other" you are talking about, but there is no way I could have guessed the rate/amount while standing there. Yes, of course, had I been prepared I probably could have looked it up before I left the house. This is what I should have done. But nooooo, I stood there and dithered and then just drove to the other PO. I have to mail another book next Wed or Thurs. I may weigh it ahead of time so that I can possibly sneak through with this very good idea of yours. I used to mail books a lot, but I do most of that sort of thing via ebook these days. I may go prepared and give it a shot and see if it gets kicked back for having media mail on it without being done at the desk. I know I asked about it once and the guy told me they had to verify (by asking) that the item was a book/dvd/cd and a kick back anything that didn't pass visual inspection. By this I guess if you try to mail a 20 pound "book" they might refuse. But hey, it's a great idea. Thanks. |

Since USPS doesn't have the option to print Media Mail postage from their website, you'd have to use another service. I've used PayPal's shipping in the past. While it works with a number of label printers (though label printers require Java ![]() Using pre-printed postage lets you avoid the USPS 13 oz. rule, which requires packages 13+ oz. with stamps to be handed to a USPS employee to be mailed. With pre-printed postage you can drop the package in a mailbox or if it's too large, into the parcel bin at the post office. IIRC, PayPal charges a small fee, but it's reasonable. I also think that some online postage is discounted. I know that sometimes PaperBack Swap's postage including fees ends up being the same or slightly cheaper than what it would cost to use stamps. YMMV |

Thanks Bookmarked. I'll have to look into that. We used to have a postage scale, but don't at the moment. If I continue to mail books I'll have to get one and look into these options. Appreciate the info!

Does the topic of posting physical books at USA post offices come under the "+Discussion" category of Kobo E-BOOK COUPONS? Just wondering.

It might be that you used it one time on old checkout and one time on the new checkout. I used the SAV50 last week on new checkout, and I know I used it before on old checkout.

Yep sav50 has had some sort of refresh because I used it months ago, possibly the end of last year? And it's tested against all my accounts again over the last month or so.
All on the new checkout. |

If you're referring to the earlier discussion (now over) about mailing physical books, then you should understand that postings in a thread are organic by nature. Discussion evolves and then gets back on target. When off-topic posts go on and on and on and on......(well, you get the idea)...then a gentle reminder to get back on topic often helps. ![]() What I'm concerned about are hate-filled, narcissistic, inappropriately-made spammy comments made in [any] thread that have no other purpose than to cause havoc. I have no tolerance whatsoever for those types of posts. And our Posting Guidelines prohibit posts of that nature. Here is the link to our Posting Guidelines: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/faq...ing_guidelines Back on topic. ![]() ![]() Don (Moderator) Last edited by Dr. Drib; 10-06-2014 at 08:21 AM. |

SAV50 has definitely reseted. I used it in India store before, and now it works again.
1stkobo doesn't work anymore in Japanese store though. |

25%
Comeback7cr53 It worked for me about just 10 minutes ago. I don't know if it is single-use or multi-use--I purchased only one book. Yeah, just 25%. I was glad to get it. Beats nothing. |
