We had a relatively gentle thunderstorm around 10 last night, but that was really all there was to it. Most of it stayed to the north of us (same cell that hit WT). Its right back to hot and humid here.

More storms last night. There was one death yesterday from the winds. Someone at the shipyard where I work was crushed between two temporary buildings. The person's name hasn't been released.

My roof has somewhere between 15-20 places that need repair. May be time for a new roof.

We got brushed by thunderstorm last night - no damage.

Continued HOT & humid today & tomorrow - continued chance of storms.

Good news: Comcast is back up.
Bad news: I don't have Comcast, I have AT&T.
Good news: One of my neighbors has an unsecured WLAN and Comcast internet.

Wish I knew who it was so I could thank them. Can't do any work-related stuff on an unsecured connection but at least I can find out what's going on in the rest of the world. The AT&T guys are working on our pole right now; I made sure to thank them and told them to be careful in the heat.

Weather - sunny, very warm, breezy and chance of severe storms (with hail and high winds again) tonight. I've got my spot marked in the basement in case those winds take on a circular pattern. (Refuse to say the "t" word.) I'm glad it's nice out right now because I couldn't get a good connection in the house so I'm out front.

if you ever want to show your appreciation to a lineman (or woman), take a pot or a pitcher of either hot coffee or cold water or iced tea depending on the season. speaking from experience...

I tried that but the tech truck had a bunch of water and a cooler full of Sprite that they shared with the bucket crew.

Last night's storm weakened some before it hit here, thank goodness, but I was still scared until it passed. I had my "Oh Sh!t" bag packed and ready to head to the basement if needed, but this one didn't produce any significant rotations. I'm still on a "borrowed" connection, DSL/landline still not back on. I've heard there were damaged hubs and switching equipment so who knows when I'll be back on my secured connection. My roommate cracked me up yesterday - he had dropped a deposit at the bank and was trying to work out his balance on paper. He asked me how he could transfer money if the DSL didn't come back. I pointed out that the helpful people at the local branch would be happy to assist.

I use the internet waaaay more than he does but he's the one that's forgotten how to function without it.

Hot and humid here, because it is Louisiana, but it is droughty. We have had only 1 inch of rain in 2 months. Suits me as I have leaky windows and my yard tends to be swampy but we really do need rain. It can hold off another couple of weeks so the river has time to go down.

Hot hot hot. It was crazy going from an average of 14-15C where I was up in northern Europe to 25-26 when the airport doors opened back home.
Really kicked my knees from under me.

There's a severe thunderstorm sweeping through right now. I've been standing at the window watching the pin oaks across the creek sway in the wind. Our fence has been hit twice in three years, so I make me nervous.
