I was guessing what a Typical Kindle User would want, not what a Typical Kindle ebook User would want.

But I would guess that the same applies. Although someone who prefers an app may be more flexible about mixing and matching reading apps.

I have not borrowed a Kindle eBook since before D&T was removed from KU eBooks. But the last time I did borrow a Kindle eBook from overdrive, it was very easy. When you choose the Kindle eBook to borrow, you are taken to amazon and it was just like borrowing a KU eBook.

And was that library ebook an Amazon published ebook? After all, I did not ask about borrowing ebooks in general from a public library. I asked for @JohnF's experience borrowing Amazon published ebooks from public libraries.

So, Jon, care to jump in and describe your "experience" with borrowing Amazon published ebooks from your local public library? How often have you done it? What format did the book arrive in? All those little bits of information that the washed public is interested in.

Sorry, I missed the focus of your question. If you can name some Amazon published books available through Overdrive and I will give them a try.

I don't recall if I've borrowed an Amazon specific eBook or not. But the process would be the same.

Jon, Jon, Jon... The process is not the same. You are not able to borrow an Amazon published ebook from your local public library since Amazon does not permit doing so. You must purchase the book or use Amazon's subscription library if it is in KU.

A bit of a trick question. Amazon does not permit Amazon published ebooks to be obtained from anywhere other than Amazon. It's not possible to borrow an Amazon published ebook other than using Amazon's subscription library (KU).

Or if you are a Prime member, it may be available in the Prime Reading.

Which is why I suspect that regular library borrowing on Kindle will end when they have a enough KU subscribers, or their use of the data is banned (it wouldn't be legal in EU, UK and some other countries).

I was not thinking of KU. I was thinking of a book published by an Amazon imprint.

Jon, did you read what I wrote? Amazon Publishing includes all the Amazon imprints. So if Amazon is the publisher, your public library will not be able to offer the ebook to their users.

So for any books published by Amazon Publishing which includes all of Amazon's imprints, you can buy the ebook from Amazon, you can borrow the ebook from KU for books enrolled in that program, you can obtain the ebook from Prime Reading or First Reads (for the very limited number of books offered through those programs) however you will not be able to borrow the ebook from your local library.
