Books where there is no non-fiction book witht he same title from the same author do not need to treat us like we are stupid by adding A Novel to the title. It's rather insulting to think we don't know when a book is a novel.

A lot of authors have written both novels about crime and "true crime" books (e.g., Ann Rule, James Patterson, Douglas Preston). Parts of Preston's non-fiction book The Monster of Florence were incorporated into the Pendergast novels. Asimov wrote a ton of non-fiction science books. He even wrote a science fiction short story ("The Endochronic Properties of Resublimated Thiotimoline") based on his own doctorial dissertation. The story was even formatted to look like a research paper. David Gerrold wrote a book tilted The Trouble With Tribbles that was non-fiction, despite having written a fictional story/screenplay with the exact same title. William Goldman's Tinsel was a novel about show business, and he had several non-fiction books about the same topic. AI pioneer Marvin Minsky partnered with Harry Harrison on the fictional The Turing Option. Last edited by nabsltd; 08-22-2023 at 11:14 AM. |

Weren't there a couple of long posts where the poster sang the praises of the gamification of reading? I was going to engage, but they are gone?
