I filled it in with what I really think they will do, based on adding the rumors to what the competition has done. Then I said I only wanted some of it. If I now add that a narrow form factor device with no bezel to speak of and page turn buttons on the side (like reading one handed on a six inch smartphone) would make me awesomely happy ... can I be on both lists? |

Nope, the larger screen of the H2O does not cause the battery to drain faster. The battery of my H2O lasts really well.

I voted for waterproofing with a shatter-resistant substrate. Something like the current Kindled but tougher.

I voted for a larger screen. I own the H2o and love the screen size. I'd love the software and performance of the voyage in a h2o size.

I voted Liquavista Greyscale and waterproof. I'm HOPING (but doubt we'll get this) for a smaller (Kobo Mini) size.

The poll is interesting and I have enjoyed the responses. Lets see, I too voted for what I thought Amazon would do (large screen, the L-color, solar charging capabilities and a TTS). I only realized after reading this thread that TTS is already in place on some e-readers.
As for waterproofing, I can see both sides of the issues that have been raised here. I do a lot of sideloading, because I did not think to buy a PW2 with 3G (I don't have wifi) but because I get a lot of docs from other sources. The NY Times compilations are one example. If you are into aviation, the FAA puts out their safety magazine in kindle format, then there are the books in the public domain. And I will often sideload my e-book purchases from Amazon. So, I love the easy access to the port on my PW2 and if the port were covered to keep it waterproof I can understand the issues that some of you have raised. On the otherhand, for those who are out in the elements a lot, or hanging around a pool, lake, etc. with your e-readers, I can see the advantage of having a waterproof device. But is it really waterproof if you accidentally drop it in the water? Just wondering. |

Well I misread the poll.
![]() I put in what I would like to see vs what think it will have. Oh well. Personally the must haves are. 1) larger than a 6 inch screen. I really like the my DXG an like the larger screen but at times its a little big. So maybe an 8 in green would be a happy medium. I don't use the keyboard nearly as much as I did with the K2 so eliminating that would be fine giving the device a smaller footprint. 2)Though I haven't tried the haptic buttons I really like the page turn buttons at the edge of my DXG and what my K2 had. 3)I don't use the TTS myself as I prefer Audible Books and Use my iPhone for that. I like the ability to have it as my wife will use my kindle to help edit her books. Hearing vs reading helps catch the mistakes and it would be nice ti have that feature if I only had the 1 Kindle. So speakers and a headphone jack are a plus but not a must have as I would just keep the DXG then. 4)Wifi I usually don't download books books but the ability to send highlights via email would be nice vs my current option of having to go to a whispersync area or hook it up to my desktop. The ability to sync with OneDrive would be awesome IMHO. I store all my books locally on my HD and in the Cloud on OneDrive and can access anything from my Mac, Ipad, and iPhone so being able to do that would nice if I could do that on my Kindle and eliminate the need for large amounts of storage that I can't use anyway. The storage is fine, unless they upgraded the processor or?? in the last few years I couldn't put more than a 150-200 books on my DXG or it really slowed down. So having 16gbs of storage or a sd slot is a non starter. And if I could access it via One Drive over wifi then I would be fine. I never had an issue with the standard font, the standard sizing or the margins like some people have and i haven't tried a lighted one like the paper white so I can't comment. Here's to next week anyway. C'mon Jeff we're waiting. |

i can't see TTS returning, because Amazon want us to buy audiobooks on Audible.
But, speakers may/should return - because of Audible ![]() Waterproof would be nice and I think probably due to the other big ereaders having this, but I doubt that will be the only new feature. Quote:
surely it must have an impact on battery - but as you say, maybe not a big one ![]() |

Only an hour or so to make your opinion known before this poll closes.
How long until we find out what's actually going to be in the new high-end Kindle, I've no idea. I hope not more than another day. |
