You shouldn't have to uninstall your current version as far as I know. It's been a while though, so I'm not completely sure.

I went on the Adobe forum lots of people reporting same error. They recommended going back to 1.7! Also said to temporarily turn off firewall when you download. I did that but got the same error as before. Adobe is on my list of allowed programs as is Google install.

I know you have to uninstall if you are going to a totally new version - for instance to 3.0. However not sure if you have to do the same if you are in the same version "family." If anyone know definitively Please let me know!

In addition I also posted in the Google Play Help section. To their credit I got a response. The tech asked me what ADE was & to please clarify my problem. I do not think I will be getting much help there! (Sigh) I am sure when they sort it out they will blame Adobe.

No. They are already blaming Adobe.

Unfortunately, I have a bigger issue to deal with today. Some days you feel like you are barely in touch with technology & this is one of them. I think my HD is failing on my just out of warranty laptop. It froze this morning in IE & I had to do a hard reset as I could not even get Task Manager to come up. Then it would not boot past the logo screen.

After multiple tries I got a blue screen of death and an ominous message that my hard drive was in "immanent" danger of failure. This was confirmed by a failed diagnostic test on the HD. So I did a file back up but realized if I have to get a new HD I have no media as Win 8 was preinstalled. There is also no longer a visible product key as it is hardwired into the BIOS. The computer manufacturer loaded something called Backup and Recovery that allows you to create a recovery USB. Like most things of this type it has been crippled by the vendor so you will purchase a 'Premium" version. Reviews of this wonder product are not positive so can't wait to dig into that nasty stew!

I just discovered that my laptop has the same version you have, so I installed 2.01.xxx and it successfully downloaded a book from Google that it wouldn't before. I also added the book to Calibre and the plugins work. A book I downloaded with the old version still works with the new version.

I checked my installation at work. There I had the 2.01.x version and the download worked. Came home and tried the 2.0.6x version again (just to be sure) and same error. Installed 2.01.x version and all is now good 👍

Thanks for the info. Once I get over my hard drive issue I will try & download the newer version.
