I thought the Olympics were only a week or so long. How would you fit a tournament that could potentially stretch for three years into that?

It would not last 3 years!! It would just seem like it.

Anyway, cricket has only been in the Olympics once, in 1900. There were two teams and one game.
Great Britain are the reigning Olympic champions because they beat France (whose side was made up of Brits).

Yes that's true - although they're a pretty well-respected team. It was Twenty20 cricket.
Each side can bat for a maximum of 20 overs (1 over = 6 deliveries).
