Jailbreaking Kindle Voyage
My goal is to remap the buttons. Is this possible?

Well, I got my voyage with firmware 5.50 which was the first firmware for this device (but 5.6.0 came just a few weeks later) and still haven't upgraded, because someone said 5.6x is evil...
Does that mean there could be hope for me?
If I could help somehow, I got an Linux PC and know how to handle it - most of the time.

There where so very few KV devices that shipped with 5.5.0 that we have little information on that version.

The version(s) prior to 5.5.0 had already been protected against our current jailbreak ;

And version 5.5.0 **probably** has the "downgrade attack" protection included.
Not that it really matters, for the KV there is nothing to downgrade to (only the PW2 has firmware early enough to JB).

Which puts you in the same boat as those with firmware version 5.6.x series (up a creek without a paddle).

So you might as well update your KV to the most recent firmware series - you will not be any more locked out than you are now.
