Another actor I wouldn't mind seeing would be Alexander Skarsgard, but he might be too thin. The right height though: 6' 4"...he would make a great Harry Dresden.

Women's parts were played by young teenage boys in the Elizabethan theatre. I don't know if there was actually a law against women acting, but it was certainly never, ever done.

Harry and Andrew, if you've read the books then you know the plots make frequent use of Reacher's size and unusual speed (for his size). I don't see how you can substitute menace for size without rewriting the stories. Reacher is not a small menacing maniac. He is a cold calculating man-mountain, or at least that is what Lee Child wrote.

A common mistake since all roles have been played by men for 300 years. Kabuki was "invented", perhaps developed is more fitting, by a woman called Izumo no Okuni (probably the domain she came from, rather than her actual name) and men in the audience, induced by local sake, would often get rowdy beyond reason.
