my Kobo Glo HD froze last night. searching the internet and finding this forum gave me hope that there might still be a chance of reviving it.

any chance to share a SD image with this newbie?

Hello David,

My friend updated the firmware of Kobo Glo HD (N437) with the firmware of Kobo Glo (N613), and it stuck in a gray screen.

Can you PM me the .img please?

Firstly, you need to enable Private Messaging. This is in the "Edit Options" of the control panel. If this isn't there, it has to be added somehow. A recent person who had this issue solved it in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=319819.

But, unless you they were installing the update over a device just after a factory reset, that shouldn't have happened. The upgrade checks to make sure it only installs the correct kernel. The main part of the upgrade is common. But, it could be that the kernel on it is to old and needs to be updated. It is possible a manual factory reset will get it going. Follow these instructions.

Tried this, not worked.

What happened:

My friend installed this:

Then a factory reset occurred, when configuring the wifi connection an error occurred, "Firmware update not found", so my friend downloaded the wrong firmware, sadly.

Now the Kobo does't show up on PC (Ubuntu) to put the right firmware package.

Sidebar: you don't need a factory reset to uninstall kfmon, koreader, or plato.

Problem solved, I just removed the internal sd card, using the card reader i was able to update the firmware.

the original sd-card doesn't register in disk utily on my mac, so I assume the card is defective? Normally I would at least get a "this card can not be read" ore something similar....
