The one drawback to store sales is that they generally carry just the 8GB versions. Still, $59 for an 8GB HD 6 is a killer deal and I'd get several in a heartbeat. Another deal is the SGT 4 10.1 for $199.

I'm getting mine from Amazon thus the Amazon Gift Card so I'll get the 16GB. The When is the big question though. It may not be when all the sales are going as I have no idea when they will give us our compensation.

The 8gb is a killer. I won't buy another 8gb tablet, especially not for my kids. I am not an app eater, and my on Fire 6 16gb I am using 4.70gb. The 8 GB model has 4.5 GB available to user. So the 8GB would be useless even to me.

I have the 8GB version and am doing fine up to now, but do not have any videos or pics on it, only apps and books. Also making use of the Cloud as much as possible. The 16GB was not available at BB anyway, and I only had 5 days to get one before flying to Europe. They are available here now though.

Good to know. I've got thousands of books on mine, and maybe 20 apps, and a couple of pictures I took to test the camera. I do have a number of games, but they are mostly card games, so I wouldn't think they would take a huge amount of memory.

Of course for people who are perfectly satisfied with 2GB space on their Kindle readers, the 8gb Fire might be just fine.

I have maybe 100 books physically on the device, and 2 GB left. But that may change...

Now girls (and monkeys), I need your advices...
1. The display is amazing. But reflexes light much. But amazing. What to do ? Antireflex film, yes or no ? If yes, which one ?
2. Why do certain books, converted by me to azw3 (calibre of course) appear on the fire with their covers under "books" but without in the carousel ? And correctly with cover on my voyage ????... am baffled there....I think it could be a resolution pb, but how to solve it, and how to make sure this does not happen with future books...?

This is the one I am using, and my 2nd attempt was very successful. (Though I see the price has gone up). Matte or anti-glare is the term you are looking for. Some people don't like them, as it dulls the clarity a little. But I find it essential for reading, or the glare is like spikes in my brain.

I do!! It's a cover size issue. The cover needs to be big. I resize all my Kindle book covers to 1066x1600 and never a problem but you can experiment with a smaller size till you find your magic number.

Someone told me about it last year after I complained Pdocs didn't show covers on the Carousel. After I started using that size covers always show.

Are you saying converting covers to this size makes them show up in Pdocs too? I was under the impression to use smaller sizes. Seems I remember a post about that.

My Pdocs had been optimized for eInk so when the HD came out last year all the covers were too small. No Pdocs wont show covers in Docs but they will on the carousel if the cover is the right size. They also show in Collections.

OK. Thanks. I have been downloading the covers to a max of 500 and they have been showing up in the carousel. I think I read about the max of 500 here someplace.
