What Are You Watching

I started The Girl from Plainville yesterday and I just couldn't get into it, it just couldn't hold my interest. So I'm not going to continue it.

I'm not sure what to watch tonight. Maybe the first two episodes of the new Interview with a Vampire series and a movie afterwards.

Just watched the 3rd and final episode of the Van der Valk season on PBS (US).

I've been watching so many youtube livestreams of walks and tours in New York City that I haven't had much time for streaming programs.

We finished the 3 seasons of Sommerdahl. OK but the soap opera story line persisted and did get tiresome.

Then we watched a good limited series 13 Commandments from Belgium with some cast overlap from Professor T. The 13 episodes work through a complex series of linked crimes at a good pace without the all-too-common tangential side stories that serve no purpose but to tick some political correctness boxes.

Now just starting Backstrom (from Sweden) which looks promising...

I'll have to note that (the 13 commandments) for whenever it and Professor T show up on something I have/receive/watch. I've given up on PBS/Masterpiece. At least, our OTA version.

I'm currently watching The Midnight Club on Netflix, which I'm really enjoying. I'll probably finish tonight.

Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to the cinema to see Halloween Ends, I'm going to see the MX4D version. In which your seats move with the action on screen, but you'll also experience any rain, snow, heat, water, wind, etc. I've never been to a MX4D showing, so it'll be interesting to experience it.

Yeah, I know no one else is watching Father Brown now, but I’m still trucking along and need to vent a bit. Yeah, I hear you. I don't know if I simply became inured to it, or if they toned it down. Honestly can't recall. I'm not, as it happens, watching it right now--I'm instead doing a rewatch of the Mack Daddy of Chamber-of-Commerce-sponsored shows, Death in Paradise. When you binge it, the "banter" between the black female detective and the FOOW (Fish out of Water) inspector can grate, FWIW.

BTW, to the producers of "Mystery Road: Origin": (warning, mini-rant): you know what happens, when you "set a horse free," like your protag did?

The same thing that happens to other animals "set free" in the wilderness.

IT BLOODY STARVES. They're not feral animals, being occasionally fed by some mystery hand. They are ABANDONED, when you "let them free," just like when you take a cat or dog or ferret to the desert and turn THAT loose. Don't romanticize animal abuse.

Deam's awful, and he will still be there. Alex Price and Nancy Carroll won't say gone forever, but their screen time will be drastically reduced (with the exception of a few episodes) for many seasons. Past inspectors will visit in later seasons, too. There are some very good moments in episodes after season 4, but I'd be lying if I said there is isn't an overall letdown. Season 9 is a hoot, though.

I went to Halloween Ends earlier and really enjoyed it. It was in a MX4D screen, which was a first for me. Once the novelty wore off I did enjoy the experience.

I also realized I've never seen the original movies, I've seen the ones the were made during the last 20 years (except the Rob Zombie one), but not the first ones, so that needs to be rectified. But not tonight.

Not sure what I'm going to watch tonight. I am in the mood for something creepy, but I'm not sure what exactly will work for me tonight.

I like baseball on the radio, but that’s for high summer, on the beach, say, or driving in a summer evening. Not the playoffs!
