There's technically better, where the numbers work out to meet some criteria, and there's aesthetically better where it looks "right". Your choice.

"Better" is when the original is faithfully reproduced.
And there is the original image and a photo of how this image is displayed on the Likebook Ares in the internal app and on the Nova 2 in the NeoReader.
For text, the background is white (255,255,255) and the font is black (0,0,0)

My television and computer monitor have different modes; game mode, cinema mode, etc. Maybe ereaders could have different modes that tweak things; novel mode (black and white basically), photo mode, and comic book mode.

It seems to me that the main fault of the constrast on the Onyx is the greyness of the whites. I've noticed this on the screen in general. This strikes me as odd, as white on e-ink is when the pixel is turned off. So it is the overall whiteness of the screen when it is off that is the problem. I have observed this difference of whiteness on other ereaders.

If this is accurate, it furthers demonstrates the poor constrast, and also clarity of the Onyx screen. Yikes

P.S. The Onyx has system level and app level contrast and refresh settings. This will make a difference, particularly to contrast.
