This I know and it's a bummer. There have been some other complaints about Catalina too, so I will skip it and other updates until an OS with major changes comes along and/or I start having compatibility problems with Mojave. As of yet, I am perfectly happy with Mojave

these must be something strange about how your ( non UK) library DRM works though, [ or your computer setup] because UK library books can be sorted with the regular tools & a windows PC. Unfortunately it can't be discussed in detail here, nor at the " tools" web site. Once you mention library books, there's an assumption that you are planning to steal..
I can only borrow books from Slovenian public libraries, because I live in Slovenia.

Please read the entire topic - I have no intention whatsoever of stealing Slovenian library books or posting them anywhere for others to grab. Slovene is only spoken in Slovenia, we are a 2 million nation. Slovenian library books would not benefit anyone else but the Slovenes and we can borrow them free of charge anytime, for 2 weeks at a time.

My only problem was inability to change font size and line spacing on Kobo for those library books, which made it impossible for me to read them, because I am far-sighted = I am able to see things clearly that are far away, but not things that are near me, I cannot read anything without eyeglasses, let alone books with a very small font. I was unable to figure this out on my own, so I asked for help and some kind souls in this topic have helped me to sort this issue for which I am truly grateful to them. That is all, no hidden agenda to it.

No, I deleted their reply because it was of no use to me. I just remember that Kobo did not help me one bit about this problem and neither did Biblos.

It's actually a publisher issue. The way the CSS was made is causing the settings to not work.

I thought so too and I explained this to the Biblos team, because the Biblos system is owned by a publishing house which offers the Biblos online buy or borrow system for e-books to public libraries in Slovenia. They put all the blame on the Kobo e-reader, not on the way .css files were created by their employees.

It's their way of shifting the blame.

So my Kobo Aura One decided to reset itself on its own, which forced me to update the system through the Kobo app and all settings went to hell again. I did a firmware update, followed the instructions for Kobo patch and the suggestions from this topic... but something is missing in the instructions - it may be obvious to you, but it is not obvious to me -, because I did everything step by step and yet the library books still do not allow me to change the font or spacing in any way. I work on a Mac, not Windows.

I used this firmware and this patch and it just does not achieve what I want to achieve with it https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=350805

Could someone please write really thorough instructions, file by file, folder by folder, exactly what to do? Because something is missing and that is why it does not work. Thank you.

This is highly frustrating for me, because I am far-sighted and I cannot read books from library unless I set my own font, font size and spacing on Kobo.

From the patch instructions:

Choose your patches from the files in the src folder

Enable patches in the files in the src folder (or use the overrides in kobopatch.yaml to keep your options separate).

What is meant by ENABLE YOUR PATCHES? Enable means nothing to me in this context. What do I actually have to do on Mac or Kobo with those files to enable them?

Ah, I realised what the problem was - when Kobo firmware was installed, the koboroot.tgz file was placed in a subfolder of .kobo folder, so I placed it there as well - and it didn't work. I copied an additional copy only to the .kobo folder (I left the other one in the subfolder, just in case) and now it works, fonts can be changed on library books

Change NO to YES for the patches you want. You can do it in Notepad (I don't know what the Mac analog is).

Yeah, I did that and it works now. I have forgotten how this procedure goes, because I have not changed these settings for a looong time.

IMHO the wording "enable the patches" in the instructions is misleading, because it makes you think that you have to run them in Terminal (on Mac) or something. All you have to do is change "yes" or "no" for some functions in the patches and save the .txt files of the changed patches before running that one .sh patch (but not separate patches).
