The bezel on the Kobo mini is big, it doesn't need to be that big for epub and I can't get a very cheap one here either :/

I bought a cheap one from China but it arrived broken!
The Kobo Mini is no longer made and thus, prices can be high is there is enough demand or the sellers think they can getaway with a high price.

The Kobo Clara HD's bezel is not too big.

The thing is, you buy cheap from China and you may get junk. It's not just the hardware, it's the software you want to be good and it may not be. There were a lot of Reader of old that were lousy because the software was lousy.

So see what you can do with that Chinese junk and buy a Glo HD and enjoy reading. Personally, I would go for the Libra H2O or the Forma H2O, but I think they are too large for what you want and part of the bezel is rather large,

You might want to look at a BK4304 "generic" eReader. For a while they were marketed under the Trekstor Pyrus Mini — and, I think, Trekstor Lira Mini — names but now updated versions (with more memory) are available under various brand names, almost always as model BK4304. I don't know where you're located, but in the U.S. they're not particularly cheap (about $80 on eBay or Amazon). On Allie Express I've seen some as cheap as $45 or so.

The eBook Reader Blog did a review on the generic ones in May of this year.

https://blog.the-ebook-reader.com/20...-up-on-amazon/

They also have a review of the Pyrus Mini here...

https://www.the-ebook-reader.com/pyrus-mini.html

The picture (attached) comparing the Mini to the Kobo Mini comes from that review.

You also might want to look at a Sony PRS-350. It's a little taller than the Kobo Mini, very slightly wider, but it's thinner and feels "sleeker" in the pocket. But the main advantage is that these seem readily available at reasonable prices on eBay.

I've attached a picture, posted by euro traveler on this site, comparing the Pyrus Mini, Kobo Mini and Sony PRS-350.

Current listings on eBay. (These also show up on Shop Goodwill fairly often.)

Good luck.

Here is a comparison of the Kindle Paperwhite compared to the Kobo Clara HD. Same screen, but the Kobo is noticeably smaller because of the bezel.

Here's a new one that's 3 inches. $130 when its kickstarter campaign launched. 3 inches means diagonally no doubt; I'd like to know the width and height of the display.

A 3" diagonal 16x9 screen is ~2.6" x ~1.5". The pixels/inch are ~320PPI which fits it's 480x854 pixel screen dimensions.
