That's actually rather mean. Were you friendly enough with these people that it was obvious they were laughing with you, not at you??

That was what was hilarious. She claimed she spent all day baking them.
Oh no, I make sure they know it is store bought.

When I was 5 years old, I took the smells-good thing with the wire through it out of the toilet at a department store, knocked the hard chemical off of it & stuck both ends of the wire into an electrical outlet in the store's bathroom. My hand got pretty fried. (Definitely not very smart!)

As a youngster, I stuck metal tweezers in the electrical socket at home ... I learned to respect electricity.

I found my Mom's keys, on a metal beaded chain, and stuck one key in one side of the outlet and the other key in the other side. Knocked me across the room.

I got outlet covers when we had kids.

I remember when I was 3 or 4 sticking my fingers into a light bulb socket on a lamp. The light bulb had been removed so there was nothing to stop me from being a Darwinistic little boy. It hurt and I yelled out. I remember my dad ran into the bedroom to see what was wrong. I told him the lamp had bitten me. He laughed and explained what had actually happened and gave me the lecture on not playing with electricity. He also placed a light bulb back into the lamp to prevent further experimentation. Little boys being what we were, it is rather amazing we survived childhood!

Wow! I can't believe all the responses I have received!! Sounds like some of you have done some, if not dumb, pretty scary things!

I realized at work I occasionally do something dumb and I bet some of you have done the same thing.

I work on the 3rd floor in a building with 4 floors. I get on the elevator and wonder why I am not going anywhere. Then realize I forgot to press a floor button. Then there are the times I get off on the wrong floor - I just take the stairs from there.

I've done that many times

Ever get on an elevator that already had passengers and then light up all of the buttons?

When I was just a wee thing, I was a curious child. Was in a department store with my mother and she was browsing a section that was directly beside the escalators.

So, there's me..."Mom, what does this button do?" And I pressed it.

It was the emergency stop button.

Oops.

I recall, as a small child the only store that had escalators was Montgomery Ward in St. Paul, Minn. I used to love it when my parents would take me there and I'd escape and ride the escalators up and down and up and ...
